I want to have a few words with you. I love the Mustang and look forward to my new one coming in. But really! A full year from ordered to receiving. It is bad enough that I am buying a high priced extravagance, but the wait has gotten longer every time I have ordered one.

And let's not forget the outrageous price increase even few months. To add insult to injury, Just about the time I am to receive my car that I have waited so patiently for, you start to put out incentives that look good, but in the fine print are not available to cars that have been ordered. Especially galling is the veterans discount. Why should a veteran not get a discount because they ordered a car to their specifications? Most businesses offer 5-10% discount to veterans and you wriggle out of less than 2%.

And let's discuss the unavailability to get desired options without it being part of a very expensive package or require an option not desired. I would love to have MagRide, but it is not offered without the Performance Package. MagRide is great, even for those who no longer track their cars and many of the roads I go on, have dips and speed bumps that are not compatible with the Performance Pack. It would be great on a long distance cruiser with the interstates chewed up by the heavy truck traffic. I have no issue with paying the additional price for MagRide, just don't want the Performance Pack.

Finally, think about making a smaller Mustang along with the traditional model. Something about the size of the old Capri. It does not need to have a V8. It would be better suited for the European market, and may even be suited for a hybrid model. If you can make the Mach E a Mustang, then surely there could be room for a smaller car that could compete with other small sport drivers. Rant over.

Ironically John Clor from FP in a recent podcast brought this up. He said that Hal Sperlich was saying the 8th generation should go back to being the smaller affordable car in general like the first gen but obviously with its own chassis.

Not whining, venting. And nothing that has not been mentioned here many times before. I love all my Mustangs, which is why I still have them even tho, I don't get to drive them much. Just because you love something, does not mean you have to ignore the flaws. Nor does it mean I have to give a hoot for someone's attempt to stir things up. I actually have lived a life full of more adventures than you can even imagine. And the only thing that matters was being married to a wonderful woman for 46 years.

There is a bit of similarity here with respect to a home computer. Yes, you can buy one with more horsepower (faster CPU), more interior room (more RAM), and more storage (larger hard drive), etc. They often come with certain software preloaded (sort of like HVAC), but for the most part, the personally-required applications are buyer add-ons. Wouldn't it be nice if vehicles were like this?

Fact is, the same can be said of streaming services. You end up getting a bunch of useless channels you'll never watch, for more money than you should have to pay.

These types of marketing ploys are all but universal. Someone, hopefully, will soon get smart and offer services/vehicles they way you want them, with line-item vetos so to speak. Whomever that person is, will make a hell of a lot more money than anyone could imagine.

I concur with the delivery issue. While admittedly, its still a pretty quick order considering the times on other vehicles, the delays are killing me. I ordered mine 2/22. Build date was scheduled for 6/4, was complete on 6/6, and has been sitting waiting to be shipped since then. Normally, I wouldn't mind but shipping has been postponed 3 times already. What the hell are you doing Ford? I live 7.5 hours from the plant. It will arrive via convoy. I could get it myself if they'd let me. For how much im paying and sales being down due to the price increases this year, they should be pushing everything they can to get sales on the books. Two months longer then the dealer estimated is a bit ridiculous when demand is low. Probably shouldn't annoy your loyal customers.

You are whining. You want everything your way. Love it or leave it. Then you turn on the trucking industry. The trucks don't damage the roads near as much as engineers who don't know how to build a quality road.

In the year 2025, I cosider a delay of over 3 months to be intolerable. The plant runs basically part time, and a dealership employee, I dom't buy any opf the bullshit excuses that Ford gives .

The option package thing I KINDA get, but don't like being forced into a $60K car just to get a few things I want. I looked at all the stuff that made the car more expensive than I wanted, and figured out a way to do it after the fact. Premium for a $5K bump? Nah, Katsin leather for $1,800, and its nicer than factory. Active exhaust with cheap looking tips for $1,600? Nah, H pip and axle back with nice quad tips for $600. $5k interior upgrqade to get B&O stereo? Nah, a woofer and amps for $1,000 that rattle the windows.

As a Ford employee, I got my base GT with 10 speed and spare tire for $41,050, and have enjoyed modding it myself. $20K more to get what I wanted, and I would not have been able to afford a new car.

My .02

The lead time for ordered cars is stupidly long.

I cancelled my 2024 order and found a car on the lot near me.

Luckily the only option I wanted but was not on the in stock car was the 3.55 gear set, and I can live with that.

The funny thing about my car was it was a special order car, either the dealer ordered it that way or someone decided against it for some reason. I don't know how or why but it worked in my favor.

What Ford has done with the pricing and deletion of certain option package individual items is insane.

The 401A package had the B&O radio included in 24, in 25 it was a near $1000 dollar option, in 26 it is even more than that.

A spare tire is now over $600 when it was MSRP of $415 in 2024. What justifies that increase for a steel wheel and a crappy tire?

As I have said before, my 2024 car as a 25 would have been $5000 more, and for 26 even more than that.

That is getting pretty close to 1LT Corvette pricing.

Start tossing in PP option packages or DH and you are in 2LT level Vette pricing.

And Vettes are readily available for sale.

Ford is following Harley down the drain when it comes to the Mustang.

It has no appeal to anyone under 50

It is priced that used GT's are still stupid money after 5 years depreciation

Have you seen one in a High School student parking area?

I have not but I see a lot of Mitsubishi's, Audi's, Suburu's and even BMW's and they are cars that are being "hot rodded". Short of a $10K Supercharger what can be done on the GT cars to make them perform better.... At least 6G cars can be tuned.

If Chrysler gets back into the high HP game the Mustang is toast, if GM brings back the Camaro or imports one of their Euro cars with a v8 in it, the Mustang is toast.

As us old geezers trying to have a second childhood die off demand for the GT will drop like a rock ( See Harley Davidson)

The Mustang has a loyal following, but that following is getting older each year. It's kinda like WW2 veterans. Once there were millions, now they are gone. Car manufacturers are ruled by marketing people who care little for what the public desires. They tend to be short term orientated, like politicians. They like it when dealers buy the cars because they order all the bells and whistles, counting on appealing to the instant satisfaction sales. Long delays on special orders, benefit the dealer and manufacturer.

If not for my love of a good performance vehicle, I would do better with something like my Flex for long cruises. It is ideal for that, but does not get any better fuel mileage because it sucks fuel at 80mph. If Ford would really build my hearts desire, there would be a shooting brake version of the Mustang.

Do not blame the engineers for the road conditions, they know how to build better roads, but most of the rules were made in the 50s and 60s. Bureaucrats hesitate to allow the rules to be updated because it means less roads for the money. Roads were originally designed for a level of traffic that was passed decades ago. As the population grows, our infrastructure cannot keep up with the demand and short sighted political organizations impede solutions. As an example, when the Keystone pipeline was shut down. It did not stop the movement of the oil, it made it rely on rail transport. With the rails having to carry all that oil, other cargo had to find alternate means of transport, which meant trucks.

I saw a dealer video on Youtube saying all 2026 Mustangs will no longer have Universal Garage Door openers and the illuminated door sills are also gone. They did away with wireless phone charger as of my 2025 year. Pay more, get less?

That said, I love my car and feel lucky that a new one with 4 miles on it was just sitting there fresh off the trailer near perfectly specced. 20” wheels, 3.55 gears, 12 speaker system.
