I saw on a facebook Mustang page that there was a hail storm that went through flat rock and it totaled 105 Mustangs….

guy said he got a call from his dealership saying his custom order EB Convertible that was built on 6/26 was totaled in the hail storm and had to start all over.

that wasn’t very comforting to hear since my Mustang was built 18 days ago on 7/1 and still hasn’t shipped yet…

dealership is closed tomorrow on Sunday’s so I won’t be able to call until Monday morning…. Very unsettling to hear about that

I am sorry to read of that.

While you can reach out to the dealer to discuss, do not be surprised if they know as little (or less) as you do.

From Ford's perspective, the vehicles are theirs and still on plant grounds. Ford generally does not directly message or contact dealers for anything. While Ford might update or pause status on yours and others' builds, they will not give more than that.

This is a unique situation. The regional manager supporting your dealer might get better detail on the scene and what's being done. The dealer GM may be in contact with regional via e-mail or discuss during their tag-ups. Still, it's more a one-way discussion, from Ford, to them. I doubt Ford will discuss individual vehicles.

I'm assuming they'll be assessing vehicles one-by-one, with outcomes ranging from no action required to PDR to body panel replacement to back in production. IDK. Vehicle status could go into something of an extended pause with no updates, then suddenly be in-transit.

From previous threads involving damage, either at plant or en-route, if you confirm any details at all, you'd be way ahead of others. Most times, the vehicle shows up after a delay, with no one except Ford having a clue what it took to get it there. There are two reasons for this:

- While it is your order, until signed for by the dealer the vehicle is Ford's property

- If Ford did give customers details on what goes on behind the curtain, that'd present any number of long-term entanglements. Many customers would use those details in support of claims for virtually anything later

On your side, if the car does not meet your standards while taking receipt, you can walk. If you do take receipt and there are later issues, a warranty is available. In extreme examples, there is the buyback program.

FWIW, before releasing the vehicle for shipment, Ford will assess and confirm it is meeting the same standard as it would if the storm never happened. It's cheaper to make any adjustments or repairs at the plant than at the dealer.

Good Luck. :please:

There has not been any damaging storms in Flat Rock recently that I have heard of. And none that would cause cars to be totaled. Do you have info other than a Facebook post?

Facebook is 99.99 percent bullshit❗. Just keep that in mind when reading "news" on it.
Thanks for reminding me why I got off FB in 2020.
Cannot imagine how much AI generated misleading "influencer" rubbish there is now on top of all the advertising and promotion garbage.

How dare you sir! If he read it on the Facebook then you know that it has been vetted and confirmed and it's nothing but the truth.

BTW, FWIW, IMHO & AFIK a hail storm is not going to total a new car.

New hood, new trunk, PDR the roof, a little paint...
