There is absolutely no reason an OTA update should take months. That's just silly and ridiculous.
30 minutes at the most is what it should take. If its taking months then the connection is extremely poor, its not completing, bugged, or failing to update and the process repeats.

Perhaps people are thinking its a series of updates that had to be downloaded separately over a period of months.
Or that an update keeps failing and it takes months for it to be fixed.

...but a single update to download and install does not take months...period.

People think Ford says...this update is now available. Let us know it a few months once its downloaded and installed?
Let's try the 'no hurt feelings' explanation:

It does not appear as if you are aware of the process that controls when/how Ford releases the OTA updates.

Yes, it CAN be months in between OTAs. Not only that, but when they release an OTA, it's not for EVERY (similar) vehicle, even if the two are identical vehicles. It's done in waves and by VINs.

There have been times when a buddy of mine with the same truck got an OTA update, but it was MONTHS before that same update was released by Ford for other people's trucks.

When I made the statement that OTAs were not like how you update your cell phone, it was meant 100% as a factual statement. This topic has been explained in GREAT detail long, long ago, especially on the F150 forums and somewhat on here.

You already explained it, and everyone understood the first time.

We get it, champ

Then there is clearly some reading comprehension issues, as evidenced by the fact that people keep posting to the contrary. See post #34 for example, where he says, "If its taking months then the connection is extremely poor, its not completing, bugged, or failing to update and the process repeats. "

No. Wrong. If Ford hasn't released the OTA for your VIN yet, you're not getting it. Period.

He's right, OTA really shouldn't take months, but we all perfectly understood when you said they do.

Its a sh*t system, and to claim otherwise is silly, lmao.

Except that's NOT what he said.

He said "If its taking months then the connection is extremely poor, its not completing, bugged, or failing to update and the process repeats."

Show me where I have posted that I have claimed it's NOT a shit system.

Go ahead. Cite it right here.

I've NEVER said that. I've only explained HOW it works today because it's clear that some people do NOT understand how it works today.

Gotta love it when people put words in your mouth because they can't defend the facts.

Ya know what. lmao, let me actually play along.

Are you able to prove its not bugged?

First, I never said it's not bugged. I said, if Ford has not released the OTA for your VIN, you're not getting it.

This has been discussed and documented for a very long time on the F150 forums (and somewhat here) by people who have access to the Ford systems who can search using your VIN and see what OTAs are (or are not) waiting for YOUR vehicle, can see the download history, can see when OTAs are failing to install and why, etc.

Second, you can't prove the non-existence of something based on the absence of evidence that proves it does exist (foundational aspect of logic and the law of contradiction).

You joined these forums 4 days ago and have contributed nothing to these forums.

I wonder which banned user you used to participate as ... Hmmm ...

I'm 100% new to the forum. If you're already trying to link me to someone else that got under your skin, then there is clearly a trend.

If everyone else is the asshole...
Oh, I'm an asshole. No doubt about that.

Your problem is your few posts are nothing more than insults. You've contributed absolutely zero useful or positive pieces of information to these forums. That is a very typical sign of a troll or banned member returning just to rile things up.
