There isn’t one. Lol.
Is there a current example of an awesome sports car and SUV being built on the same platform?

Edit: before anyone says BMW, remember we already talked about the M cars being overweight
This and that yellow mr2 concept are apparently riding on the same platform. That's if both of them stay as EV models but that's what their designers were saying.

I’m sorry but that’s funny. The Vanquish is a fairly large car and heavy. And I love AM. Would take one over any other Supercar.

And the base price is $432,000. And they will make 1,000 of them.

Let’s use current, proven platforms.

Not concepts.

And EVs are heavy. So that will be the mr2 excuse. Yes it will be fast. But it will be heavier than necessary.

We are asking for examples of an suv platform shared with a sports car that is LIGHT.

The production MR2 being developed is riding on its own TNGA platform and is rumored to be ICE or hybrid.

They aren’t even making the MR2 like that anyways. They’re developing a new rwd platform and have made a new performance oriented 4 banger.

they’re trying to go all in with the Celica, Supra, MR2 and a twin turbo v8 Lexus sports coupe (LFR)

Not sure if this has already been posted here but @Epiphany found the GTD curb weight over on M6G.

At 4,300 pounds, I'm no longer interested....not that I could afford one anyway. My vote just just shifted to the ZR1.
All the talk about why the weight. The above say's "Drive Mode While Testing, 4-WHEEL DRIVE" ????????????????????

Ah. Thanks.

Then it’s All the more disingenuous then of him to post it. And here it seemed like he was coming back to common sense for a bit.

When you have to make stuff up to “prove” your… “point,” you don’t have a point to prove.

Toyota is one of the smarter companies out there with lots of common sense. So it was a bit baffling that 1. they’d share the m2 platform with an suv of all things. And 2. I hadn’t heard of this anywhere.

Moving forward, let’s stick with current on the lot models that are examples of LIGHT sports cars sharing platforms with actual SUVs.

He is correct that the concept shares underpinnings, but truthfully none of those concepts were functional.

Like it was stated before, only one “muscle” car currently shares a platform with a SUV and it’s the Dodge Charger. 😂

Not saying it’s good either, but if you see it in person and sit in it, it’s insane how big it is.

That MR2 looks slick
Rumored to cost between 25 and 70 grand, yes I know that's a huge gap lol. The one close to 25 is believe to use a 120 hp 3 cyl, and the 70 grand one is running a 400 hp turbocharged motor. That's what the rumor mill is saying. Then there's this electric concept. I have no idea if it's gonna be all three, or just one of these powertrain types, but it has potential.

I don't care if it's slow with 120 hp, if they make it look like that for a price in the 20s as a replacement for the gr86, I'll buy one hands down.

You're kinda coming across as a bit of a dick right now.

Interesting, we'll see where it ends up leading. With that many enthusiasts vehicles in development, maybe Ford and Toyota should get in bed together and co-develop some platforms. They both seem to want to lean hard into aspirational products, splitting development costs of dedicated performance platforms between two brands could be a smart move.

This entire conversation is totally theoretical and, quite frankly, pure fantasy. It’s what people want, without thought as to what is possible in the real world. If Ford were to build what people have suggested in this thread only they would need 20 new models. Besides this is a GTD thread not a S650 thread so totally pointless.

I don’t think they should, the whole BMW thing was contract thing where they had to share tech and from people I know who worked on the project it was a headache. Other than that Toyota collabs with people they have a stake in (Mazda, Subaru etc.)

I think Jim Farley has people he can steal away from Toyota to help with reliability/quality though, but he never used it.

Didn’t mean to be. But honestly the same could be said of you.

We asked for examples of light sports cars sharing platforms with SUVs.

Then you plop some random concept.

Come on dude.
