You rock! I hear the same noise I hear on mine, it’s like the rattle/rapid tick noise and then when you hear the idle down begin it goes away. I’m going to try to compress my video and see if I can post it on here and you can listen. Makes me feel more comfortable that yours also has that.
That sounds like the GDI pump. It's normal, they are noisy.

Wouldn’t the noise be constant though? I mean your guess is better than mine but I don’t feel like it would make that muffled rattle noise then go away on idle down 🤷🏻‍♂️

You make a good point.

But now that I’ve heard another s650 make the same noise, makes me wonder if all of them do and if so, just wanna know what it is. If they all do it then it’s obvious that it’s normal, just a new noise my ocd can’t let go lol

Not sure if it would make any difference but when I recorded my video the phone was just barely under the car, almost in line with the bottom of the door. I wasn't very close to the cats. Does yours quiet down a lot after it idles down? It was probably about 75 degrees in my garage at the time and the car had sat for about 24 hours.

Yeah after the idle down it gets quiet, and depending if it’s the middle of the day or if the engine is somewhat warm, it isn’t nearly as loud either. Super odd.

Early on in the thread, it appears the sounds you're experiencing could be common to the Gen 4.

I can't speak of the 4, but some insight on the Gen 3:

- One sound I hear, regardless of conditions, cold or fully warmed up, is the ticking of the injectors

- Sounds (primarily clicks and whines) heard at startup and cold, disappear when fully warmed up

- The driving mode can make a marked difference in the sounds heard, hot or cold

The sounds I do hear, especially when cold, are consistent with the driving mode being used. They've been there since Day 1 and I consider everything I've experienced as being normal. Oil analysis, MPG, performance, fluid checks, etc., have all shown normal. Sounds are from not only the engine, but transmission (MT, Tremec).

For the first 10 - 15 minutes of driving, until the car is fully warmed up, I take it easy. I'm just cruising. Often much to the annoyance of people immediately behind me, thinking I should be Haulin' A all he time. :giggle:Once I'm comfortable temps are up and things have stabilized, I drive as spirited as I'd like.

Reads like Ford has asked for some feedback. Great to see their interest. Hopefully they'll be offering some feedback.

I'm 828 miles in on mine. I've heard the raspy metal on start up a time or two.

But - the noise that I have at 1800-2k RPMs under slight throttle sounds exactly like the "piston slap" of the Coyote Gen 2/ Voodoo Gen 1. I am less than a fan. I've not tried it in park revved to 2k yet. I'll test that later today. It's a bit hideous that my baby sounds like a damned diesel.

I was trying to give it until the 1k mile break in point, but it's driving me slightly mad.

I don't think I have anything going on that sounds like a piston slap going with mine. Wonder what's up with yours? Because again the only noises I have is that raspy noise on startup and then sometimes a clicking on a slow Rev, but I'm still not convinced it wasn't the exhaust piping popping from being really hot. Regardless of what happens, the warranty is going to fix any issues so I'd almost rather something happen sooner rather than later.

***UPDATE***

I just stopped by my local Ford dealership where they have a GT premium with AE and NPP, and asked to start theirs after explaining what I was hearing. They allowed me to start the car, and to my relief if has the exact same noise on startup until idle down as mine has. So after the video another member posted above and just starting a 2nd GT, I can say that I'm no longer worried as it seams to be normal.

The tick I described in the original post hasn't happened again since that night, and again I was running the car a little more aggressive since I did roll over 1,000 miles this past Sunday, so I'm honestly thinking that it was the exhaust crackling from being hot.

In other news, my Steeda H-Pipe came in today!!

Nope, car never began having any issues so I'm not sure what direction to go besides let it be until it becomes a issue.

Just wondering if you have any updates on what you said sounds similar to piston slap?
