I'll be ordering a GT Convertible in February of 26 and I'm seeking some input from owners.

Intended use of the car is to enjoy day trips in the ME, NH, & VT countryside when we aren't out with our F150 Lariat PB and TT.

My wife and I are in our mid 60's so we aren't doing anything radical with the car except have her 135 pound lapdog in the back seat.

Let's say Nov thru May the car will be off the road.

Two questions basically:

1) Should I get the BEMBO Brakes?

2) Is the 12 SPKR B&O a waste in a convertible?

Appreciate any and all thoughts.

19” wheels
B&O sound
Mini spare & tire
Active Valve Exhaust

load it up, otherwise might as well get the dark horse.

Same answers here. We ordered everything you listed but the B&O sound system.

My 2 cents for what it’s worth. No to Brembo, yes to B&O.

I would like to add the Anti-theft package which should result in an insurance discount.

I just noticed they bumped the price from $500 to $700 for this option, wow.

I'm in Mass. with a GT convertible for summers only. I went with the PP just to get MagneRide - not for the track but for the terrible roads around here. It's your money, so you decide how much to invest in this toy. I loaded mine up as I already went the cheaper route with a V6 S197. I have no regrets, but the sound system is inspired/designed by B&O - the actual system is made by the lowest bidder but the V8 sound is better than most crap on the radio.

When your dog isn't in the back seat, your wife might appreciate a wind deflector. I have a permanent model, but a removable one makes more sense in your situation.

Good luck with whatever you decide. I hope you get to open it up on the Kancamagus Highway!

We went through the same exercise beginning in early May this year. We decided that we wanted a convertible for "road" trips, beginning spring of 2026. We are retired (no dog) and enjoy traveling the "back roads" of America. So we visited a number of Mustang club shows this summer and talked with convertible owners. By July, we had decided on which Mustang, options and colors. Face to face conversations with like minded Mustang convertible owners, caused us to re-think our initial thoughts on what to order. A week end rental of a 2024 convertible cemented our decision. So, we ordered and ended up with a 2026 fully optioned EcoBoost in EXACTLY the color combo we wanted. Can't say that an additional 100 HP, B&O sound, Brembo brakes, etc would make any difference in our road trip experiences, but for the month that we have had it, I think it will be the perfect fit.

I have driven convertible Mustangs many times without the B&O system, when I bought my 2025, it was a must. It is so much more clear at lower volumes in the convertible.

As for the pup, that is a big dog for that back seat. You might want to look for a good bed to span the two buckets. Or let the dog sit up front. Seriously though, check the thread I put on about dogs in convertibles. The harness I am using is awesome and would work in the back seat too.

@Sig Oris ..... I have a 2024 GT premium convertible. I bought it from a lot as was ordered: vapor blue, space grey seats, rim up-grade to polished 5 spoke, AT, Bose up-grade. I'll attach a picture to show the color of the car, space grey seats and oem "Brembo" brakes. I have just ordered a 2026 exactly the same except I have added active valve exhaust (just for the fun). My opinion, get the active exhaust (just for fun). I have the oem Mustang brakes that say Brembo on them - NOT special order. They would launch me over the windshield if I wasn't belted in on a quick stop so - unless you plan to track the car the Brembo is a wasted up-grade. I have 1500 tunes on my android phone which I play through the Bose 12 speaker with trunk sub and yes it is worth that upgrade. BTW I tried to price-out adding the Mustang oem active valve exhaust after the fact and it was way too much work and expense so just up-graded the whole thing. Good luck.

Go with the GT premium vs the Ecoboost. I had a 2022 Ecoboost Premium Convertible. Put 48k great miles on it and would still be driving it except I continually wanted a GT with the v8. Ordered a 2025 Gat Premium convertible. Picked it up in April. 13k wonderful smiles.

Here is my experience with the Ecoboost. It is a fun car, great fuel mileage and the convertible top works just the same as the GT. It looks like a sports car and in many ways feels like a sports car. The turbo engine does pretty well, but there is a lag waiting for it to kick in (like when you go to pass). Sport mode helps with the lag some, but it is still there along with the turbo whistle.

I have rented and enjoyed the Ecoboost many many times, I highly recommend you do the same to set benchmark for your expectations, especially before you test drive a GT.

The GT .... Completely different experience. Once you drive one it will be hard to go back to the Ecoboost. No lag. No whistle. Just the low growl and roar of dinosaurs being egnyited to form explosions to propel you wherever you are headed. It does not just look like a sports car, it is one. The premium package is worth every penny as well. As I mentioned before, BO system was a must for me. Factory brakes on the premium are more than adequate.

If you can afford the GT Premium and you don't get it, I predict you will regret it. Daily driver for your commute, sure Ecoboost. Tight budget and want a totally fun car. Yep Ecoboost. Don't mind 15 miles to the gallon, can afford using up more dinosaur remains without guilt, want to know you didn't leave anything on the table ... GT.
