Get back into a Dark Horse or GT500?

Sold my Dark Horse in April to help pay for my Daily Truck, 2025 Raptor 37.

So now, I’m looking at adding either another Dark Horse HP to the stable or a GT500. Neither will be at the track. Only car shows, events and more importantly cruising.

Really enjoyed my non HP Dark Horse but a lot of people say I’m crazy not to get a low mileage ‘20-22 GT500.

My only issue with the GT500 is it wouldn’t be new, but close enough with low mileage. Out of warranty too.

I was is the same boat, But a 3 pedal car took the cake, My new Dark horse will be here in 10 days!!

I went with ordering a new Dark Horse over a used GT500 because of the 3rd pedal and because you never know how much abuse the GT500 took before it was put up for sale.

If you want 3 pedals, there is always a GT350 as well......have you driven a GT500 or a GT350 before?

Having driven all 3....the personalities of each of these cars is completely different even though on the same platform .....different flavors for different people ....

With the 500 you can feel the extra weight of the supercharger on the front of the car- it doesnt feel as balanced/ it feels bigger- but it is stupid fast from a roll ....

The GT350 is going to be more high strung/ raw - but not everyone likes the characteristics of the VooDoo as you really need to beat on it to go fast - and some people dont like that the car is always very very raw compared to the other 2 - as in its always shouting feedback at you so you feel like you always have to be paying attention....

The Dark Horse is more refined like the GT500 but with less power- but you get back the balance as you dont have the extra weight on the front end....so you feel more comfortable throwing it into corners like the 350 ....

I would suggest driving all 3 and see which one you connect with the most......no wrong answer as they are all great cars in their own way....

Yeah I’m thinking the extra weight of the 500 might be a negative factor for me, although I respect the straight line rush.

Upacurb has used a very important word here in talking about the DH, and that word is balance. I don’t know of another car that has such a perfect balance of handling, power and comfort-you name it.

But my opinion might be skewed by having handling package cars. They must be experienced to be believed. I have to think they ooch over a little into GT350 territory, yet they’re comfortable and have plenty of low end for everyday driving.

Do get the HP as you mention.

(I know people love to hate this feature, but)….Is the adaptive cruise and lane keeping as good in the GT500 vs the Dark Horse?

Not sure if you care about that or not

Also think the old interior is worse. (Fighting words, I know )
