FORD isn't alone in this category. This is just a prime example of the loss of brain power, pride in workmanship, and in some cases GREED!
Anything you do in most cases must be done twice. The system is broken folks!
Buy stock in tow trucks and rental cars!

I'll take a voluntary recall to fix something over ignoring it, denying it until the bitter end and then being forced to cave or fight class actions

Imagine if they would have recalled the Pinto...

True but when your ad is “Quality is Job 1” you would expect them to get it right the first time more often.

It's a culture that starts at the top. Bill Ford stepped aside to let Alan Mulally rescue Ford but under Ford's leadership, stock market value has a higher priority than the product. Don't let his public comments cloud the true greed that motivates the leaders of publicly traded companies as it was sickening to see, first hand, how Ford's quality was compromised over profit potential on so many projects.

One classic example, Farley complained how Tesla didn't use unnecessary fasteners and Ford used too many so Explorer axle group was pressured to eliminate one of the four differential housing mounting bolts for a significant cost savings. (The savings would outweigh potential warranty claims.) Engineering Validation data and test failures verified the design risk, yet, the proposal was still released and it is still in production on most Explorer based variants. Ford had a recall (no surprise) but the solution didn't completely address the root issue and most Explorer based variants still use three mounting bolts instead of four. (S550/S650 use the same mount design but utilize a four-bolt approach.) It's just business as usual as long as profits remain high and stock values don't suffer, no different than most other automakers.

I’m in Wilmington, NC (from DE) tending to my mom who had a stroke (doing well). My new 2025 Explorer ST, purchased 12/2025 gave me a “low oil pressure light came light” yesterday am when I fired it up. Light didn’t return on 3rd start up so drove it to dealer 2 miles away. They were booked a week out. Took me in, checked out my vehicle, had shuttle driver take me to a restaurant for breakfast. Found no problem after thorough check up.
Same thing this am plus Ford Pass alert about fan control module short that could result in overheating. Drove back to dealer. Still booked a week out & took me back in.
Great service even though i disrupted their schedule twice. Made me proud to be a Ford owner. I’ll sing their praises.

But I admit, I am getting a little tired of the recalls & glitches

PS. There’s a smoking hot Mustang GT PP Race red, black painted roof, manual sitting on the showroom floor. Screaming at me to take it home. It’s all I can do not to drive it out. Only thing stopping me is no magneride, no active exhaust, and no Tremec.
Whew. Close call!

Recalls are a fact of life now. I'd rather have that than the old days of discovering production F ups yourself.
I've had 3 in recent years, one in a "bullet proof" Toyota, 2 in "high quality" VAG products.
If the water ingress recall is the only one I get with the Ford, I'll be very happy.

Their new ad is "Quality was Job #1". In all fairness, cars are a lot more complicated than they were back in the old days.

You have to understand mass production.

It was like the highest recalls last year and they still made almost 7 Billion profit, and the major reason it was down year over year was due to an aluminum supplier going down and they had to slow F150 production for several weeks.

cost benefit analysis proves it’s cheaper to build build build and repair or fix mistakes after the fact.

and my 2024 mustang has been flawless with zero issues, I wouldn’t even know if there is a recall on it.

There is no excuse for being the auto manufacturer with the most recalls for two years in a row.

Im a Ford guy, but making excuses for this is ridiculous. The only thing I will say is that their recalls seem mostly minor and proactive in nature. But still...
