journalism at its finest, truly...
imo, this sounds perfectly reasonable. if you end up having an issue with something that Ford says should be replaced, congratulations! you've probably found why it was replaced and the damage could've been prevented - not warrantable because the issue was known and you decided to ignore it

also worth noting that Ford has this on most recalls they publish

Did you receive a letter? This involves 11 vehicles.
No , But the bottom of our Monroney has 1/31/24 on it. So I was nervous.

Thanks @roket for checking my VIN !
Build date 2/12/24 😎

dang. That’s foreboding.
Is this a full recall? Or is it a TSB?( Edit: I see it’s a recall.)

because it sounds like it should be a recall.

this means there is a defect in the head that will cause catastrophic damage to your car, probably right at the time your car goes out of warranty.

get it done pronto people. Make the time, schedule it, take it in and get it done. NOW.

A little history:

The 2003 and 2004 mustang Cobras had a slight valve guide defect and it ended up wrecking pistons and causing total cylinder compression loss. It was initially only supposed to have expected a certain VIN range and production dates. Ended up affecting both ‘03 and ‘04 years. ALL cars. And it took 3 revisions to solve the issue. You won’t find that info on Ford’s published info. Poor customers had to figure that on their own.

Ford only issued a TSB and lots of people didn’t get it done. They also had bad motors around 40,000 -60,000 miles. Just out of warranty. I bought a used Cobra unaware of this issue. Around 40k, guess what? Ended up having to replace the entire engine. At my expense. Thankfully this was years later and the Ford remsnufactured engine had been the latest revision.

bottom line: something of this magnitude is not slight and could devastating consequences, being much bigger than expected.

And it may take multiple revisions for Ford to get right as it did then. The new heads may not be exactly right either, so any issues, don’t chance it. Take it right back after the work is done. At the very least, Ford engineers can study the new heads to find the root of the problem.

Customer should not pay for any service fees related to this.

there is a company that Ford sends cars to to get them driven for QA reasons, plus there are factory test mules in the hands of executives and managers.

Why they are taking cars from sold retail units and disturbing the engine bay and engine is beyond me.

Personally I'd be trading the car in before I let a dealer tech doing a head swap for warranty flat rate and hours do it, no offense to the dealer techs but we know that warranty pays less

i understand why you say this, but you have nothing to worry about when it comes to recalls. Ford is incredibly serious about them to the point where if they suspect or are informed that something was done wrong, the technician who did the work incorrectly will reprimanded

So you should be receiving a letter, right?

we still have not received a letter regarding our hydraulic clutch line. I did find it in our app but I had to look for it.

the tech getting told “bad dog” doesn’t exactly fix your car, nor restore the inconvenience and downtime.

it's not so much being told "bad" as much as the risk of probation or termination for even messing up once
