Let me introduce you to the legions of Shelby owners out there that will beat their meat to anything with the Shelby nametag on it

it's ten times better than dork horse

cobra is ten times better than dork horse as well!
Mustang Cobra is retàrded, one is a horse, the other is a snake. From an evolutionary standpoint they’re not even close, whereas Dark Horse at least matches the model name. Much like if the had a special edition Granada , M67, or the “Brett” Maverick, and so on.

I’m sure legions of boomers pine for the Shelby moniker, but what has Shelby the company actually contributed to late model Mustangs beyond the nameplate?

The fact there is a multiple page thread about the name Shelby here but no threads on the Dark Horse in the Shelby forums speaks volumes …

no one with a Shelby wishes their car was named Dark Horse instead but I’m getting the feeling some of you wish it was named GT500 or Cobra

Denial is strong in here ….

What do you guys think about the RTR Mustang being built on the Ford assembly line? I know it's an Ecoboost package and all, but it does prove they still want to have "partnership" vehicles being built in-house.

Good question. I have no idea why it’s RTR and not Roush. Saleen I can understand not using them since they had so much turmoil haha

I can understand why with Vaughn, honestly...plus I can see why with the Ecoboost as it's a more value-oriented offering for the younger generation. Test the waters type of scenario, either way, I guess.

EDIT: I think Roush, recently anyway, has sadly went to the back like Shelby American. During the S197 days, Roush was PEAK.

That makes sense, target the younger crowd
