Yup. If the name had no more cache we wouldn’t see so many people clamoring for it

Ford missed the forest for the trees on this one. They felt they had to use the dark horse name to tie it to Ford Racing. That’s why it was gonna be Dark Horse Boss instead of just Boss. But that’s dumb so they changed to it to DH SC. But because it’s a Ford Racing product that automatically ties it. Put illuminated ford racing door sill plates and puddle lamps or something and you’re good to go.

It seems like they want Dark Horse to be a sub brand like Raptor is. The problem is Dark Horse, although a good car, has 0 cache. Raptor had nearly instant cache because it was revolutionary for its time. DH brand started life as a re-skinned Mach 1 and slower than its predecessor in some regards…

Oh well. We got what we got.

I hope Ford eventually makes new and unique Mustang models or a true 2 seater sports car vette fighter
Well said.

Your breakdown is spot on bro. That’s what I get from “Dark Horse” as well with Ford wanting it to be a Raptor sub brand.

The SC could’ve been the Dark Horse “R” (like the Raptor R) if it wasn’t already used for a race series.

I've never disagreed that Shelby has fallen off. And it doesnt shock me that Ford moved on. But I still think the name carries more weight than you give it credit for.

My issue is not that they dropped the name "Shelby", its the rebrand of "Dark Horse" for everything related to Ford Racings specialty models. I was at Barrett Jackson today and I saw a few SVT Cobras and SN95 Mach 1s. Those cars were really special halo cars back in the day before they transitioned back to Shelby in 07. It struck me as such a waste Ford abandoned those names and history. I was explaining the difference between Dark Horse and Dark Horse SC to my friends and I could tell it was confusing to them. I just dont think Dark Horse has the same cache as those other brands.

Im just thankful they didn't go with Dark Horse Boss. That would have really sent me over the edge. 🤣

What are your thoughts on the looks of the SC after seeing it in person?

I didn't see it! Supposedly they are going to put vin #1 up for auction but I didn't see it anywhere. I suspect it hasn't arrived yet.

I did see a GTD, RTR, and the Adriatic Blue though.

I like to disassemble things.
While that might be the case. Back in May of 2020 I bought a new 2020 Silver Gt350 for 5k under sticker.
So less than invoice? Sounds like a trade was involved.

Regarding nomenclature....I really don't care, I just want to see quality hardware and innovative engineering.

I watched the video with Stangguy and Farley and I have to say...Farley came across as quite the asshole. Him disregarding prior Mustang history when he said "we only look forward" and now seeing that they were indeed going to use the Boss name was rather disingenuous. It seems the entire group is going out of their way to not credit the '20-'22 GT500 and the people that developed it as the roots of the SC. They do their best to avoid using the word "Shelby." Again, the names don't matter to me but I'd appreciate honesty instead of an obvious edict to funnel attention elsewhere when certain words are used. Jamal Hameedi, Dave Pericak, Raj Nair...they are the reason that the Predator powered car with a DCT and a CF driveshaft became reality. Same for the FPC car before it. Its as if they never existed and they created the Raptor variants as well.

I would like to have heard that Ford took from those prior cars and made them better, faster, stronger. The hardware didn't magically originate with the GTD, some of it anyway.

Again, I LOVE the hardware in the SC. As long as they don't call it the San Fran Rainbow Edition, I want one, whatever the name.

I feel like the two cars are just updated and reskinned versions of the GT350 and GT500. It seems like calling the GT500 reskin 'SC' implies that it's just a supercharged Dark Horse. But in reality the differences are a lot more than just the supercharger.

There is nonresident GT350, the regular Dark Horse is just a reskinned Mach 1

what's going to be different about the SC other than the $20k brake package if you get it?

Shelby has just been a name/badge since the early 70's. Doesn't really translate anymore to a majority of buyers.
