Yes. There isn’t a tune difference once you tune out what ford tricked you into thinking was a difference. Stock to stock, the tune files are almost identical with the exception of a bit less tq management for the DH. That’s your extra power. Once removed, the GT makes the same power. Don’t let anyone fool you - more so than Ford did. Ingenious really to dampen the GT a bit further and less on the DH. Saves a lot of cost that’s for sure.
So it sounds like you’re saying there’s really no point in tuning my DH then? Minimal gain unless I want to go E85 tune and test my gas all the time?

Honesty love the way it feels on e30 with the Soler performance throttle controller.
I could spend $1000 on a lot of other things.

No I didnt say that at all. I said once tuned, your DH is the same as a GT. or if it makes it go down smoother, the GT is brought up to the level of the DH...lol

My opinion is for manual guys only wanting to run 91/93, there isnt much on the table for you. Sure refinement and now clutch protection tq management can be reduced, but pure power wise its meh. 15-25 maybe. The value for them is if you want pop/flame tunes or ghost cam. Both of which I do epicly, and the 20 something kids that own these cars (not DH's usually), go NUTS for those options.

Now lets say you are an auto car and want to run full E. There is 50-60 on the table from stock for you, plus add in the tremendous amount of refinement for both drivability and WOT you get for the trans, its like getting a whole new car. The trans refinement, changes to shift schedules, auto upshift in manual for roll racing, 8k RPM shift points and the list goes on. Its substantial and very real world power/performance.

And then add in getting both ghost cam and or pop/flame with that, the cost for tuning is worth it big time.

Flex fuel tuning isnt hard, but generally puts you in the middle between 93 tunes and full E tunes. Even if you get the best E you can find, the car always seems to land around the e70-ish mark and will fuel and spark you accordingly. Personally I have not seen a flex tune that takes full advantage of good E85. They are great for that 75% power bump and get you the flexibility to cross back and forth between fuels when it suits you. But for me, I would rather have full E tuning, maximized for power for that fuel and deal with the issues of E85 availability. Now keep in mind I would never DD a car on full E for many reasons why you would want flex.

And for us, the pain of dealing with the constant issues that flex tunes have with users not using them properly no matter how well instructed, or documented the process would be, is not worth it. It sure hasnt put any hold or slow down on business. Ive tuned a couple hundred s650s already since july. And yes, our (my) tunes have evolved as more access is being given in HP tuners with new updates to their VCM editor software. They are still adding more tables and parameters that we can change. We are about 1 to 1 with the gen 3 tuning access at this point. I see everything I would see from a gen3 file now in the gen4.

Plus whipple support now and also the EB tuning just came out. Business is booming and folks are super happy running both 93 and E85 tunes with and without ghost cam and or pop flame.

Oh agreed. But a few have learned a very expensive lesson recently when they've been door to door or even walked by GTs with the same or more mods. This was a hard lesson for the GT350 guys when tuned GTs were walking those stock GT350s as well. And we are running the GTs to 8k RPM now, so that peepees on their parade quite a bit. But god love um hanging on to that flat plane crank business.

In my opinion the 10-speed sucks for daily driving. After 3 years in my Mach and great Wengerd 10-speed tune and it still sucked unless you were flooring it:
I want to have more torque and usable mid-range power.
I only get e70 here in Chicago and I run 93 in winter.
I’ll never run full e85.
This is why I love the flex tune concept.
I appreciate your explanation but how can your tune work for me and my kind is where I’m struggling

You aren’t a tuning customer, not on this platform it sounds like. I’m about 46 and I feel where you’re coming from. I’m not my tuning customer either because I don’t call strangers “twin” and reply to every statement with “bet”. But 95% of my s550/s650 customers do. I don’t run and don’t personally like the ghost cam or pop flame. But the people I tune for do and they are usually 20-30 years old. And 30 is stretching it. The 10R80 has come a long way for the s650 and it’s quite a treat to drive daily now with my refinement on top. The s550 version needed a lot of help, tons. But we’ve got them as sweet as a Cadillac and at wot they are fire breathing monsters.

I just sold my 25 GT and bought a c8 corvette for myself. No need for the mustang anymore, tuning is all written in stone and been tested well past any other shop. So it’s here I leave you. I wish you luck finding that elusive flex tune, but odds are you’ll be left wanting once you get it. Personally just keep it stock and enjoy it.

You aren’t a tuning customer, not on this platform it sounds like. I’m about 46 and I feel where you’re coming from. I’m not my tuning customer either because I don’t call strangers “twin” and reply to every statement with “bet”. But 95% of my s550/s650 customers do. I don’t run and don’t personally like the ghost cam or pop flame. But the people I tune for do and they are usually 20-30 years old. And 30 is stretching it. The 10R80 has come a long way for the s650 and it’s quite a treat to drive daily now with my refinement on top. The s550 version needed a lot of help, tons. But we’ve got them as sweet as a Cadillac and at wot they are fire breathing monsters.

Personally I need the trunk and back seat with a manual V8 2 door or I would have a lot of impractical sports car options to choose from other than Mustang.

Im holdng out for flex tune before March. Is swapping between flex and e85 gonna be doable without a laptop. Newbie question i guess. Is there a device that holds 2 or 3 tunes. Last mustang i tuned was an 03mach1. I'm sure things have changed. Lol

Things have changed a lot. For S650s, tuning is relatively new. If you are interested in a real flex tune that will correctly gauge ethanol content and adjust fuel trims on the fly (aren't we all?) I would do your own research very carefully and look for one that does not have owners reporting problems. In fact, I would re-read this thread in which you posted starting from the first post, as a start to your research.

A proper flex tune lets you run anything in between 91 - e85. After you fill the tank it may take 10 miles or so to adjust air fuel ratios so you should drive nice during this time. You should not be running you e85 tune with anything less than e70. This can cause serious problems.
