2002 Dodge Ram pickup. Years back, the brake line @ master cylinder area sprung a small lead and brake fluid sprayed directly on the exhaust header and combusted. I put it out with a 2 liter of Mountain Dew. Cost me a about $150 in parts to repair what little had been damaged.

According to some, I should have just let it burn. 🤷‍♂️

You missed the point? LOL. JK

Yes, I've owned a dozen or so trucks - mostly Fords - and the only truck that ever left me stranded was that damn RAM.

I’ve personally put out 2 car engine fires, 1 with jackets and water bottles, the other with a small extinguisher. Both vehicles were able to be saved and driven again.

when I was on the FD, we obviously had more but by the time a truck gets to you the car is pretty much engulfed. I’ll carry a small extinguisher and hope I never need it.
+1. My buddy had a Dodge 318 that backfired through the carb and WHOOSH. Water and wet towels to the rescue.

That happened to me on my 79 LeBaron with a 318. Other than a quick flame, nothing caught on fire. Singed my eyebrows though :)

I used to have an Element in my car. I will invite you to read reviews.

I now have a standard type extinguisher. I fastened it horizontally under the passenger side door pull with tie wraps. The tie wraps hold the extinguisher cradle not the extinguisher itself, so I can still access it fast by reaching across.

Doesn't bug the passenger when I have one.
