I noticed a day after picking up my GT that there was a fender gap on one side. I spoke to the dealer and they said to bring it in but if they need to do any body work I may have to be without the car for a few days maybe more.

My questions is, has anybody ran into similar issue with fenders on new mustangs? I have heard and read on here about the hood gaps but not fenders. If there is a thread on this already my apologies as I may have missed it.

Yes first Ford lol.

Welcome to the Ford family- so yes the drivetrains are incredible but the panel gaps are horrible...if you want to feel better I can send you some pictures of the gaps on my car.....some of them are really really bad....but the great thing is at WOT with the Coyote singing- (or VooDoo for me) the last thing Im thinking about is panel gaps : )

Get past the usual silly one line responses --- That looks like it may be damaged or not fitted properly in the first place. That gap is far too big and probably unclipped, either from a nudge or even reversing off a kerb and pulling the bottom of the fender (there would be scratches under the splitter if this is the case). No paintwork damage so should be easy enough to refit.

Thanks for the reply. Will take it in to have it looked at.

@Idle0024 ..... yes there have been discussions and videos. Your gap looks like it can be resolved fairly easily (fingers crossed) by a good tech at a Ford Dealership. If you watch the entire front sections being installed in Ford manufacturing plant videos it comes in, held by a robot, at an angle and snaps into place then there are several bolts in the under hood area and in fender areas. Any decent Ford dealership tech will know these and that they can be loosened for adjustments. I would only have Ford or a Ford authorized body shop do this. There seems to be a fair bit of adjustment available and I think your situation can be improved 99%. BTW - I would think this would be under warranty even if you have already accepted the car as it is obvious it came from the factory this way.

Could be the front cover stay is broken or the front cover is broken. These covers are really thin where they attach. Drag it off a curb, or a low punch at the bottom will tear the cover where it clips in on the stay. If the front cover is broken you'll need a new one. Don't let the dealer glue it. Trust me they will and say it's fixed. Ask to see the damage and go from there.

It’s a ford, normal quality control issues. I would rather live with it or fix myself than take into a dealer. It may get fixed or come out with more issues than it went in with.

That is not normal come on u shouldn’t be able to fit a finger in ur bumper to fender right there 🤣 check those 2 10mm bolts to see if they’re tight before u go to the dealer and have them take a week to look at it.

Nope not normal. I agree figure it yourself, some can some can't. Sometimes the true story to why it happened is missing, lol

Again, these are issues present on many mustangs. Quality control is not job 1 at Ford. Paint runs, fender gaps, wavy rear bumpers. I ignore the small issues on my GT and enjoy.

Warm the pannel up with a hair dryer after getting to the bolts and loosening them up. Have a friend hold the pannel in place and tighten. Should fix it right up.
