@GTSteve ..... great work. I particularly like that you matched the grain of the dash. The "grain" of the dash was a specific pattern researched by Ford to break-up any reflective light patterns that would reflect onto the windshield like about 80% of other vehicles. You may have noticed that the dashes on our 2024-5 Mustangs do not reflect lights patterns on the windshield - expect for rare occasions when the display does. So I would keep the surface pattern you chose as IMO a carbon fiber pattern could reflect onto the windshield. No matter what - a great idea that looks awesome IMO. m

Thank you very much! As you noted, reflectivity is a major concern. The plastic sheet material comes as a glossy shiny side and a glossy textured side. Luckily the textured side wasn't strikingly different. What a break, right! But it was glossy nevertheless and mandated painting. I tried a satin at first, but even that was too reflective, so I settled on flat black.

I like it! Nicely done.... The question that I have concerns heat... These screens get hot, especially when the sun is shining through the windshield. How well does this product allow for the dispersion of heat or will it make the screens get hotter? As we all know that heat is the enemy of electronics. I think it would be important that the design of your product allow for proper and efficient heat dispersion.

At a $200 price point I would definitely buy one. Thanks for considering my design suggestion. I’d love to see those sides taper down a bit more.

Heat was a major concern when I first began field tested the visor beginning June 2024.
Having made several round trips from Tulsa, Oklahoma to OKC and Tulsa to Joplin, Missouri in the middle of summer for 2 years, I was able to conduct several non-scientific tests with it on and off cycles. While driving for a specific amount of time into the sun, I removed the visor and placed my hand on the back of the display in several places to determine if there was any increase in temperature when compared to bare display screen in the same amount of time, apples to apples as it were. 15 minute on/off and longer, 30minute intervals.
I found that the temperature is actually reduced with it on. While not a significant amount, it was however, less!!.
I would have pursued a more scientific tests with blade thermocouples and meters, but the IRL hand touch method was satisfactory to determine the temperature difference.
So IMO, the visor absorbs the radiant heat and acts similarly to a heat sink and the display screens are slightly cooler.

I had considered designing it with an "air gap" between the two surfaces but the tests concluded that it wasn't necessary as there wasn't an increase in temperature.

Great question! I'm glad that you brought this up so that anyone else who may have concerns about heat build up will be addressed, should they read this thread.👍

I just had PPF installed on my touchscreen. Cuts glare to almost nil, and fingerprints are non existent.

But the work you've done here looks to be working for you.
Yea, exactly what I did is the matte clear screen on mine and no problems so far but questions on the longer time down the road? Pending notes down the road or couple of years? We’ll see!

have you considered a design where the ends taper back into the dash? I did a quick scribble on my ipad.

(don’t worry, if you like the design, it’s all yours.…lol)

like it. I live in South Texas and want to keep sun/heat off the screens and computers.

I like it, it adds a litle bit of class. But the current exchange rate makes it a bit expensive down here, like everything.
I'll see if want becomes need.

One thought for you is to have satisfaction guaranteed. That might help with more taking a chance to see how great a product you have and move customers off the fence. Of course it would be shipping costs to the customer for returns. Your idea has me intrigued.
