Different oil temps in Different modes ?

Was driving to work this morning in drag mode, temp was 54 out. Driving 76 oil temp was 230

driving home from work in sport mode, temp was 85 outside, oil temp was 219

If you had air conditioning on during the ride home an additional cooling fan runs. That could account for the oil temp difference. That has been my experience with my non pp 6 spd GT.

You are correct, I turned air on this morning and watched the temps fall.

I can't see the drive mode making any diff in diff temp... it is entirely mechanical, so should work exactly the same in any mode.

Oil temps rise pretty quick with higher RPMs. Probably all it is.

Oil temperatures are definitely different in different modes. Normal is the lowest temperature. Track is higher. I have not driven for any significant length of time in Drag Mode, those violent shifts are annoying.

Track mode is a lot more rpm = higher engine oil temperature.


I was experimenting when others expressed disbelief that my cylinder hear and oil temperatures tend to stay in the 190-95 range (and they spend a lot of time down in the 180s if I am just cruising along easily). I really like the coolers on my Dark Horse.
