Does anyone have any trouble getting into reverse? After pulling up on the reverse lockout, sometimes I have trouble getting it into reverse and have to force into reverse. This happened a few times but not always. Or does reverse go in smoothly for you guys?

past experience not sure on these transmissions. typically reverse gear is not synchronized so if the internals are at a full stop, the gear teeth might be stacked. if you go to neutral, let off the clutch, push again, this rolls the gears so it should slide into reverse gear. if that doesn't help might have a shifter issue

OP I don’t know what your experience level is with a manual transmission but all manual cars are different, often even the exact same setup in two different cars. To complicate things even more, the Tremec requires very positive and firm input in my experience with several Mustangs so equipped. It’s a great transmission for many reasons but I’ve personally never understood all the “shifts like butter” stuff that people like to talk about.

Good news is it always gets better as the car warms up, and it will get better as the break in miles accumulate. If yours gets sticky just manipulate the shifter in and out of a couple of forward gears, operate the clutch, and yes it’s fine to use a little pressure. You’ll be fine.

What year is your STI? I have a 2019 that just failed a leak down test in two cylinders so I gotta get rid of it. It's my DD and it's killing me to get rid of it.
2021. Did you modify the Sti?

Normal for the Tremec. It was the same on the M1s (the owners manual even referred to it). Just lift the clutch pedal and try again.

Try 1st then reverse…. Always, I don’t have a DH but all manual cars I’ve owned always wanted *clutch in… 1st, then reverse and let out.
