My last car was a 2020 GT500 that I sold two years ago. My previous car was a 2018 Mustang GT with the Stage 2 Whipple 10-speed automatic. The previous car before that was a 2016 Mustang GT with a 6-speed and a Roush supercharger. I've had my current car (a 6-speed Tremec) for a couple of months now, and my Whipple should be here next week. I have almost 500 miles on my car, so I have started to drive it more aggressively, but it feels somewhat gutless for a 500hp car. Anyone else feel this way coming from higher horsepower cars?

The bulk of this is drive by wire, pedal mapping.

You need to really lay into the pedal. Think of it as 1st half is eco mode, 2nd half is the throttle map.
Get comfortable stomping it

Mine is definitely not like that. It’s obviously a small block, but when it’s in the power band, it’s pushing you back in the seat fast, not lazy.

I mean, my ZX10r will leave my Dark Horse for dead by 2+ seconds in the 1/4 mile. So perspective is important. But for a car, she’s ... Punctual.
I think I'll be more than happy with the Whipple but stock for me I'm a little disappointed.

Probably this...^^
The throttle response is unbelievably bad IMO. They probably mapped it that way for EPA reasons though I probably burn more fuel stomping the throttle to wake it up, so it feels like a 500HP V8 should.

For me I confirmed this was the problem, I bought a Pedal Commander and damn, throw you back in the seat, some settings were unusable just too much. It threw a few codes so I removed it.

Just waiting for the ability to tune, so we can unleash what this thing is truly capable of. Shame we have to lose the warranty to use the car at it's full potential

I use an elcheapo amazon throttle controller no codes. pedal commander has had alot of issues. I know someone has used the 23 banks throttle controller on the 24s it has a part that plugs into the obd2 port that lets it disengage if there is an issue and the car will drive normally. The throttle mappings are total junk on the factory tune for any model. Feels like 75 to 80 % at best untill you give it the beans. Also has wicked bad lag.

I would say that you answered your own question; you got used to driving a 700+ hp car. Just as I did with a Roush Phase 2 on my S550. Getting into a "plain old stock" 500 HP car is going to feel underwhelming. When you fly jets and get into a prop plane, without adjusting your expectations, you are going to be disappointed.

I was messing around with the modes the other day and realized that (and this is my personal opinion) Sport mode has the best/instant throttle response. If your vehicle is in 'Normal' mode, that's probably why it feels the way it feels for the OP. What kills me though is that I have Magneride and like the Normal mode suspension for everyday driving, but the 'Sport' acceleration. For whatever reason though, your modes are strictly tied to your suspension settings (if you have Magneride).

Try a Peddle commander to see if that gives you a better response

Did you feel big difference with your GT500?
