Hey All,

Looking to get an idea on what my DH w/hp and a 6 speed is going to do on the highways in the good old US of A. Driving at the speed limit of course.

CONTEXT:
- Whipple Stage 1 gets installed in April
- Road trip coming up in July. 1000km(ish) / 620(ish) miles) on day 1
- Going with many other Mustangs but 99% are NA.
- The organizers have fuel stops planned however I would guess that is planned around the bulk being N/A

I'm thinking 6th gear and RAIN/SNOW mode and the speed limit all the way and I should be able to stop along the same schedule as them.

Thoughts?

No clue, but factory setup gets north of 25mpg on road trips.

Yeah, if I was staying NA it would be no concern; all our fuel stops would align but alas, the Supercharger bug bit me again on this Mustang too and here we are.

If you’re gonna cruise most of the time, you should be hitting 20+ mpg even with the whipple. I have the roush and a 10 speed on my dark horse and when I drive on long distance drives and just cruise, easily 25-26 mpg. When you hit the fun pedal and start bouncing on the redline, your mpg is gonna take a hit pretty quickly

Thanks @kagemusha2662 - I'lll assume that it will be CLOSE to the same. Even if it's only 20-21mpg I can probably do the same fuel stop schedule as the rest of the crew. I am extremely hestitant to bring a 5 gallon VP Fuel jug in the trunk with me for obvious reasons.

Yeah we going through New York, > Pennsylviania > West Virginia on the first day so should definitely be a lot of interstate driving. I am not worried about fuel stops for myself, I can stop anywhere or even everyhwere however I'd like to arrive with the rest of the non boosted folks.

I have a manual with the handling package and a stage one whipple, basically your same setup and on my few highway trips i was getting a little over 20mpg.

Thanks for this.

It's a loooooooooong trip and I'd rather not hold people up with extra fuel trips. I guess myself and the GT500 could probably roll together for fuel and the other 20 cars go off and do their Naturally Aspirated thing. We will see how it shakes out.

I wish I could tell you. But I've not ventured on a road trip with my GT 6 spd with Whipple. So I'd also like to know. I've also thought about an Ecoboost for around town.
