Dark Horse non HP spacer dilemma – looking for feedback from those running OEM wheels. I don’t want different wheels.
I have a stock 2026 Dark Horse on OEM wheels and Michelin PS4S tires, and I’m trying to decide whether spacers are worth it and, if so, what size makes the most sense.
I took some measurements from the outer fender to the wheel/tire:
Front
* Tire sidewall: 10 mm inside the fender
* Wheel lip: 19 mm inside
* Top of tire to fender: 28 mm
Rear
* Tire sidewall: 12 mm inside the fender
* Wheel lip: 18 mm inside
* Top of tire to fender: 28 mm
Additional measurements:
* Hub centric lip protrusion: 10 mm
* Wheel studs: 30 mm
* Wheel pockets on the back side: 6 mm deep
* OEM lug nuts currently engage about 12 full turns
My concern is that the common spacer sizes all seem to have compromises:
* 3 mm: preserves ~7 mm of hub lip and still leaves roughly 10 turns of engagement.
* 5 mm: probably the largest spacer I’d be comfortable running on the OEM studs, but only leaves ~5 mm of hub lip.
* 8-10 mm: visually appealing, but I’m concerned about both hub engagement and lug engagement.
* 15-20 mm hub-centric: mechanically cleaner in some ways, but I’m not sure how well they work with the OEM wheel pockets and whether they end up pushing the wheels too far out.
I am not trying to achieve a poke/aggressive fitment. My goal is simply an OEM+ look with good centering, no vibration issues, and no compromises in safety.
For those running OEM Dark Horse wheels:
1. What spacer size did you end up with?
2. Any vibration or centering issues?
3. Did you keep the factory studs?
4. If you had to do it again, would you choose 3 mm, 5 mm, or go straight to a hub-centric setup?
