So I just found out the plastic bag in the trunk wasn't the gap filler for the convertible. It's actually underbody strakes designed to "help clear the air under the car for less drag and more downforce" according to the internet. These were supposed to be installed under part 3 of the PDI:

I took a chance and ordered the parts I thought I had for the previous generation Mustang. I'll report back here ASAP and let you know if they fit. If nothing else, I have a better name than that gap filler plastic cover thingy - Convertible Boot Side Plastic Cover Panels. I bought a used pair in the event I need to ship it right back:

Used: $53.99 or $79.99

New: $94.99

Update 9/16/23: The S550 covers do not seem to fit the 2024 Mustang. Different shape - no notches.

Scheduled the car to go back to the dealer next month to finish the PDI.

My husband thinks these holes on 2024 look smaller, I thought had said bigger than the 2021 mustang. I’m anxious to know if they fit. If so will order them

Sorry to disappoint, but the covers do not seem to fit the S650. See DaddyTigggs reply below. These used covers arrived dirty, scratched, and with the foam on the underside completely missing. I saved by buying used, but I wouldn't have kept them even if they were a fit.

I searched for instructions on how to install and didn't come up with very much. I did find an interesting thread on 6G:

Guess they had some problems early and ultimately stopped offering them. I don't know if they will be available in the future.

The S550's DO FIT. I have an extra set that came off of coworkers S550. The pictures are of them installed on my S650. Asking $80, free shipping.

Thanks for clearing that up. I couldn't figure out how to install them, and honestly didn't dig into it much deeper after I learned of potential damage to the top. My understanding is if the top stays retracted for a long period of time, it will have a tough time closing later and will have to be stretched to get it to close.

I love the clean look and really wanted this to work out, and apparently it does, but I won't be putting them on my car. I'm much more interested in resolving the rocks flying into the opening in the wheel well before spring.
