anyway, my car (MY 26) came with the panels and the attached picture shows a top down view of a Euro S650 for a magazine road test. Why should Ford do such a thing???

Second photo shows the trunk of my car with the panels thrown in.

Maybe they had a surplus of panels and just threw them in the trunk of all cars destined for Europe or Down under, who knows...

I love mine, although I did see people saying they had damaged their top, So before I ever used them, I went to the hardware store and picked up some sticky-backed foam insulation strips and made sure the underside was nice and padded. Never had any indication of damage to my roof material.

MY PROBLEM: I always forget them. Time after time, I put the top up and hear them go “plop!” on the ground. I keep wanting to make myself a reminder note up by the lowering button, but I never got around to it.

In the middle of the Summer, they’re always on. As the weather starts to get “iffy”, I set them aside. They’re a MUST for Cars ‘n’ Coffee! Nice, clean look.

Clawfford,
If they hit the ground they were not put on correctly. There are sensor switches that won't allow the top to go up if installed properly. Glenn

Sensors? Where? I can‘t see how mine could possibly be installed wrong
they’re pretty basic and simple. Unless mine aren’t built quite right. They are aftermarket, I’m sure, not OEM. Maybe missing something that alerts that sensor of yours? I’d love to avoid accidental pop-offs, but I can only imagine how much the genuine Ford covers cost.

Mine are the OEM covers, originally made for S550. I've been using them for more than 18 months and haven't had any wear or damage. I actually used them tonight when I drove to a meet-up about an hour from my house. I don't use them unless the trip is longer than a half hour because it takes a bit to install them. Here are some images with part numbers. Also, if you have them installed correctly, you can't put the top up. If they are not installed correctly, you can put the top up and they will end up on the ground. I plead the fifth because I might incriminate myself. And here is the website where my dealer bought the covers:

I made my dealer order mine. I have no idea where the switches are, obviously somewhere where the covers click in. You can actually hear a clicking noise when you put them on. I know when I first got them, they hit the ground a couple of times, and now they don't! A couple of days ago, I drove home, forgot they were installed, first use this year, and at first wondered why the top wouldn't go up! Then remembered they were on. As a side note. The top won't go up if a window is slightly up. That one took a while until I tried putting the windows up and then down, and the top then worked. Glenn

Yeah, I asked A.I. and my aftermarket ones probably need a magnet or something that talks to the sensor. It looks like that $205 figure for OEM is spot on, through Ford, American Muscle, or Late Model Restoration. Ugh!

You should have made the dealer pay! I did! Glenn
Don’t get me started about the dealer.

my wife really wanted this mustang and it was at a dealer in VT about 3 1/2 hours from where we live in ME

you may have seen my post about a rear lower shield / deflector missing. Found this out installing Form Lighting parts. So I called them thinking it didn’t get reinstalled after they undercoated the car. Nope. Parts guy says no 60th’s were shipped with this part. I said you’re telling me of all the MY25 built, only 1965 of them shipped without this part. He said yes and people here sent me pictures of it installed.

all that to say I’m done with Performance Ford in Rutland VT. ZERO help after a sale.

back to covers, places like TASCA don’t show the part so I said EFF IT and used the link you provided.

you share a lot of good info and I appreciate it

I try, but never forget I'm an old man who was never a rocket science major and have probably forgotten more than I ever learned! But thanks for that. Glenn
