I have a 2025 GT Convertible with 20" wheels and Brembo brakes. Recently completed a 1300 mile trip and I have a lot of brake dust on my wheels. My question is, is this normal for the Brembo brakes?

For a performance car, the Brembos on the Mustangs dust level is very acceptable. Now owning a modern BMW M car (G8X) the brake dust is ridiculous. A 10 mile drive coats the wheels with a nice cinnamon colored dust.

As far as Ceramic Pads, you won't get the same stopping power as you would with the OEM Brembo pads. Also, I saw a guy at Willowsprings tracking his 2020 Mustang GT with the PP brakes go off track as his pads glazed so bad, he was using the EBC Red brakes.

@BamasGT must be some kind of a Ford thing. I owned a 2012 Focus ST and and a 2016 Focus RS prior to my '24 GT/with Brembos. All three had great (feel, bite, and stopping capability) OEM brake pads.

And, they all dusted just terrible.

Swapped out the ST pads for Centric ceramics then eventually some Power Stop carbon/kevlar pads, and I ditched the RS's OEM pads for Hawk HPS ceramics. According to my non scientific seat of the pants test instrumentation --------------all 3 sets stopped just as good as OEM and produced (not kidding) about 10% of the dust!

I've only got about 9200 miles on my GT, and have been balking on the cost of replacement ceramics (so far). Been compensating by washing the wheel and calipers more often during our warmer season (I'm in MI).

That's the first thing I noticed on my DH was the crazy amount of brake dust.

I thought Brembo brake dust was bad until I tried a set of Dixcel brake pads on my wife’s odyssey.

The brake dust from the brembos on the front wheels is ridiculous. If u wash the wheels and take 1 drive they already look dirty. I have the charcoal color PP wheels and they look like black after a few drives. Im definitely gonna invest in better brake pads when these are worn out.

There is always a break-in period with new pads that leave a lot of dust. Generally it gets better over time. But Brembos do seem to leave a lot of dust.

I've had my car for 2 years and its not a break in period thing, they just create tons of dust all the time

Yes, I did some minor suspension work at 2000:miles, and mucho brake dust. Dust is especially heavy on inside of 20” wheel. It looked worse on my C8 Z51 with black wheels.

Some drivers are much harder on brakes than others. A friend of ours needed new pads on her Cupra Ateca, mine at the same mileage were half worn, and I drive far harder than she does.

I absolutely HATE the brake dust these brembos give off! It's been 2yrs now and it's definitely not letting up. I'm moving on to ceramics.

Same here. Since April 2024 these PP wheels have been a nightmare to clean. Too many crevices. I have Apex VS-5RS on order for spring then ill change the brakes
