I'm just wondering if anyone else has this problem. I wash my car and put it right in the garage. When I go to drive it again the next day or two, there's a big clunk when I first move it. It's like the pads are stuck to the rotors. After the first time it did it, I don't apply the emergency brake anymore and It still does it. It sounds and feels horrible like I'm going to rip something off. I always make sure I blow everything out of there when I dry the car. Is this normal? It has to be happening to others.

I have a manual DH if that matters. I just don't want to wreck anything.

Thanks

Probably is on. I never turn it off. I can give that a try next time. Something is locking up. The rotors are rusty after I wash it, but I know that's normal.

It's like the pads are stuck to the rotors.
That's exactly what is happening: the rotors have rusted to the pads.

In normal operation, the calipers and pads hold the slightest amount of pressure to the disc and do not float freely with separation. The "clunk" you hear are the pads breaking free of the disc.

If you find them stuck, one thing I do with my truck is press firmly and hold the brake pedal for a moment, then release. This often works.

For Skye, I take a parade lap. After washing, then drying as much as possible, I take one slow lap around the block. It's akin to a dog shaking the excess water off themselves after taking a dip. The movement not only removes excess water, the rubbing action dries and clears the discs, preventing them from seizing.

Once back at the house, I wipe off any excess that has shed from the body. Also any excess on the rims themselves. I don't have to do anything to the discs or pads.

OP listen to Skye, its the brake pads rusting to the rotors.
This is normal after a car wash or driving in the rain.
Don't freak out!! All is okay. :)

Like others have stated. Drive around the block after washing. The rotors have very high iron content and witll flash over quickly. This is nothing new.

That happens to me from time to time after washing my car and driving the next day or so. Recently we had rain so it was sitting for 2-3 days and today it made that noise too lol I knew it had to do with the rotors and pads but never had an issue with anything even though it sounds and feels pretty bad.
