Has anybody with an S650 experienced "Ice Mode" while on track?

This is a condition that occurs when braking hard, and the system decides that instead of on a dry, hot, sticky asphalt track in August, that you are instead in January in Anchorage and are braking on ice. The car applies as much braking force as if you are trying to stop on ice.

If you release the pedal and squeeze it again, the car should adjust back to actual conditions, but sometimes that means not enough room if you did not leave extra room at the track for braking into an approaching turn.

I have never experienced this.

It is extremely common on S550 cars, reported frequently over at trackmustangsonline.com

Since this site is dedicated to 7Gen (S650) cars, and some of you track, I just wanted to ask, is this still a thing with Mustangs?

That sounds bloody dangerous if you’re approaching a corner at full pelt and need to use all the braking space available to you! Having to lift off on final approach would take balls of steel on track

May put you off track, yes.

But I am looking for examples of it happening to S650 cars. There are plenty of examples of it in the S550.

I've never experienced this with my S650. Every time I brake the actual stopping power is as expected. This is the only vehicle I've ever driven on track, so I have no comparison.

I am glad you chimed in, as you probably have the most S650 track experience of anybody on this forum.

Braking issues in 370z? I owned 2016 370z before the horsey. Brakes worked pretty good other than the stock disc's were complete garbage.

Can’t say it’s the same case for you. A close friend totaled his (mentioned the same symptom), Amuse Japan gave up on tuning it after their driver totaled it in hot version international (checked the algorithm of the brakes after from the car’s telemetry and that was their conclusion) and a bunch of these threads on 370z forum.

The population of S650 Mustangs on the track is very small compared to S550, in spite of the presence of the Dark Horse, the Dark Horse handling package, the GT performance package, and the Ecoboost Mustang with performance package, with better brakes and additional cooling and other upgrades meant for better performance on the track.

Nevertheless, having a thread running here and over at trackmustangsonline.com will hopefully capture anybody who has had this issue.

No bites yet on either thread, but it is early.

Maybe in a few years there will be many more S650 Mustangs on the track, comparable to S550s, as they get older.

These are still kind of expensive cars when new, and it is understandable that a lot of folks do not want to track an expensive car.

The brakes are new and different compared to the S550. The electronic calibration may be different, too, including how ABS functions. But the word "may" betrays that I have no clue, and neither do you (unless you do, maybe you are a Ford engineer who worked on the braking system and has first hand knowledge or even second hand knowledge that you can post).

But the purpose of this thread is to find out if this issue even exists in the S650 cars.

So far, no ice mode reported.

What was their conclusion? Sorry to ask, but your post is confusing, and "that" is an indefinite indicator.
