My point was that if the Hellcat and Z06 only made 14 more horsepower than the ScatPack or Stingray, they probably wouldn't sell very many. I can put headers on my GT and be making as much horsepower as a Dark Horse. Personally, I'd pay $70k or a little more for a Mustang making 100+ or more horsepower. I think the Whipple charger is the way to go on the Dark Horse, but it would be nice if Ford offered a supercharged Dark Horse from the factory. I'm guessing you've got an additional $11k-$13k into your car with the purchase and installation of the Whipple. 650 rwhp is a great number. :like:
Yes it would have been nice if they made the PF800 but when I was buying Shelby had nothing and the Dark Horse was their top Mustang so that was all that was out there. The only difference between the cars you mentioned is superchargers I also live in Canada were demon 170 were advertised at $289,000 and have no Idea what Z06 cost so with what I payed for my car and super charger I think I did okay cost wise and will eat a Demao 170 on a tight road course.

That's why I'm debating with my brother and daughter between getting my sister in law a GT with as many performance bells and whistles, the GT Premium with all the performance up grades at $64,460, or for not much more the Dark Horse at $68,168 sans the handling package. Seems the GT Premium would be a better choice. The Dark Horse weighs more, and forget about parking it in a place you can't keep your eye on it. Plus with summer tires only, can't use it for commuting. The reason to get the Mustang is to be able to get away from the bad guys. Plus a car with a lot of flash draws attention from the bad guys too. So the Dark Horse becomes a "Garage Queen". Do we buy to ride or garage. Mustang drivers buy them to ride.
I went with the GT Premium for the exact same reason. I couldn't be swayed by the price of the Dark Horse for what I get with a Premium. No regrets.

kinda why I doubt the Boss is coming back this generation. Kinda redundant.
But ok another note, the dark horse name didn’t exactly catch fire. It just doesn’t resonate like heritage names such as Boss, Mach, Cobra, Shelby GTXXX, etc. so who knows how many generations it lasts.
I think the Dark Horse name describes the car to a tee It's an out cast of all Mustangs The GT 350, Mach 1, Bullit and Bos 302 guy's like to run their mouths about them. But yet track reviews have all been great setting track time equal or better than the car's I mentioned. So like the name no one expected it to be as good as it is. Also in Black they look unassuming

The dark horse only has 14hp more than the GT

but remember the Mach 1 only had 20 more HP than the GT

and the boss 302 only had 24 more HP than the GT
Heck. My GT with the only option they had available, and I wanted, spare tire, has more horse power. But then I cheat with an SC. Still about 10 grand cheaper than the D-H. The '25s had price increased of about 7 grand. Lots of 2024s still available.

I don't blame you. I just wish I could've gotten a handling package for my GT. Every time you build a model the next one up is five grand difference. By the 2025s went up a lot. As did the options for it. That's why I got the base GT. Maybe I could install heavier springs and shocks. If I'd have gotten the Performance Package I'd have to buy extra tires to drive in the rain. Summer tires won't work for my driving. And no spare?

I live just outside of Phoenix...no rain issues. Colder temps in the winter but hardly below the rated temperatures for the tires. I bought the Premium so I could have every option availabe so I wouldn't have to upgrade later. The Magnaride suspension was the best upgrade since it wasn't available as an aftermarket. I just happened to have the money for the first time in my life to purchase what I wanted. I am pleased with my build and I don't regret it.

I don't disagree at all. The name isn't as popular as some of the heritage badges. But it's a good car and the name fits. I agree. I don't think it's as fast as it should be for 500 hp. But it's pretty good on the track.

That's why mine has a Whipple so it could live up to it's name.

I've had a few mustangs, first time pp with magnaride. And many others that where handling machines. Honestly it's impressive for this platform. Especially when you can tone it down, and rides like a caddy!

I'm thinking of dropping the PP for my sister in law, and just getting the magna and brembos. Handling and stopping is the most important in a big city like the Dallas FTW area. Going to keep the six speed. That should bring it down 59K+. I think the regular W rated tires and rims will work. Like to get 20s in case we go with a Whipple SC.

But when I seen that Roush it was love at first site. Like a good woman. They're great until they whine. That's what I don't like about the Roush, the whine.

I actually dig the whine. I have a Borla cat back with Bassani X on my old Cobra. So I dig the v8 soundtrack mroe than anything. But coupled with that SC whine, it sounds rad.

Magneride is a game changer since it came out in various forms.

Was watching a video. Some guy couldn't hear the whine, so he took tubing and piped it into his car. Everyone has different tastes. I like the sound of an old car with the top of the carb intake turned upside down while passing gear kicks in, glass packs thundering in the rear.
