Best oil drain pan when using ramps

Thread title kind of says it all. I have my first oil change coming up and need an oil drain pan to drain the 10 quarts of oil into while the car is on ramps. Anyone have any good recommendation on the best pan to use that won't get oil all over creation?

BTW, I've done more oil changes than I would guess but not 10 quarts.

Look on amazon I found a nice big one with capped pouring spout.

I know I'm getting a little "elementary" but when the drain plug is taken out, does oil flow at a similar rate compared to other vehicles? Does it just take a little longer since about 10 quarts is coming out, or does it "drain out fast and fly all over the place?" I really don't want to clean up a big mess nor am I totally stupid....normally.....

My current pan will likely work if the flow rate is like other vehicles. Thanks for patience. I'm one of those anal "do it right" people that doesn't like to F-up.

I wouldn't worry about it. If yours is like mine, you'll be down a quart or 2 when oil change interval comes.

It worked quite well on my Tacoma Pre-Runner today which uses 5 quarts. Don't know why it wouldn't work on a 10 quart oil drain on my GT. This seemed like my 547,235th oil change effort. Not quite, but I just don't believe in paying people to not do as good a job at oil changes as I do.

This is a bit hard to describe. What I do is undo the last few threads by hand and ease the plug open so that oil trickles out, then gradually let more flow into the pan until it's flowing freely. This prevents a sudden rush of oil splashing all over the place.
Wear nitrile gloves if the oil is hot.
I do the same process with spin on filters.

Good idea LouG. I do that with oil filters but will be a little more careful with the drain plug. I can see what you're describing as a good way to "pull the plug".

Always have done my own oil changes. But I'm older now and decided to by the maintenance package. So my Dark Horse just tells me when to come in. I have had the car for 17 months it has 4300 kilometers and it has already had 3 oil changes so far and it's synthetic oil. So my oil is always bang on.

It rains a lot around here for 8 months out of the year. So it spends some time in it's heated garage. It's not my daily driver. However when it's sunny I'm out cruising I have lots of time I'm retired.

If you get a drain pan with the flat top that drains into the bottom portion, get a oil drain spash mat for it or the oil hits the top of the drain pan and splashes everywhere.
