Take a history lesson on the marketing of the mustang. It was originally marketed as a practical, fast fun, family vehicle. It's target market was even women. The Mach-E's performance is pretty great for what it is. Saying that the Mach-E is not a mustang is like saying the Urus is not a Lamborghini.
Surely you can see the problem with this logic, Lamborghini is a car brand not an individual car with a 55+ year history of being more or less true to its mission. The mustang has been a two door pony car from day one and you can’t just completely change what it is overnight and expect people to go along with it. If Lamborghini called their suv an Aventador or Huracan that would be comparable. But they didn’t, because they had respect for the names that have made their brand what it is today. That being said both the Urus and Ferrari Purosangue are cash grabs to sell the brand to people who will buy an suv but not a traditional Ferrari or Lamborghini, so in that sense you’re correct it is watering down the brand but certainly not in a comparable way to the mach e. Also the urus which is basically an Audi, has been extremely successful, Lamborghini has sold more urus suvs than all previous Lamborghini models combined. Everyone bows the knee to profits eventually I guess.

but since the ME is failing to sell, does that mean we'll be rid of it soon?

I believe we will have to see ford pivot at some point. But being a giant corporation, they’ll wait to save face and never admit to any mistake - but there will be a better, updated model named something else that sees the Mach e gradually disappear.

the trouble with massive corp giants is that they can’t maneuver on a dime, there’s lists of boardroom pride to protect, marketing entanglements, etc.

Not to mention a few years ago, we were hearing this nonsense drivel about expanding the ford mustang “brand” to encompass a whole bunch of different vehicles. Basically sounded like they’ll just do away with SVO, SVT, Ford Performance, etc. and just call all the performance models “Mustang.” As of that wasn’t the absolute height of stupidity.

all it does is dilute and destroy the identity of the actual mustang. As alluded to earlier by ClassicLover, when everything is a Mustang, nothing is.

it will be a novelty like the Mach e saw, then it will die off fairly quickly and end up crushing both the pretenders and the real thing - just as we are seeing with the Mach e and the brand new generation of Ford Mustangs.

such things ought not to be so.

thankfully there is Farley, who has a good head on j his shoulders. But even he has a whole mountain already in motion in front of him.
