Where did your data come from?
It's not MY data!

I gave you one link in the previous post but more below just a random sample from 30 seconds of searching.

There are literally hundreds of research papers from all over the world demonstrating the benefits of stop start systems and fuel savings. The systems have been widely in use for 25 years or more so extensive data is available both on the fuel savings and reliability data.

Seat belts save lives as well, mandated was repealed and now they continue to be ‘optional’. Always stay started is the function of the ‘start (on/off button / keyswitch)’ anything else is simply ‘artificial’ automation. How often do you flush only when the bowel is full? Waste not want not.

Bottom line is most engine wear is on startup oil pressure dropping to 0. 10 times per drive!. There is no way in hell that's good for your engine, starter, or battery. I am protecting my investment over a dollar in gas.

A stop and restart when the oil is at 200+F, and was shut off 30 seconds ago, is different from a cold start after an overnight sit.

No. Stop start only works when it is safe to do so and the engine is up to full working temperature. Pressure is not going to be an issue and the engine is warm. Engine starter and battery are all designed for stop start.

As I said MILLIONS of cars have had stop start for 25+ years so reliability data is well understood.

I kind of glad I have it for the only reason to have that button filled and not blank. Doesn't bother me as I am always in Sport Mode or Track (Which disables it)

It seems like you'd be well served to do a used oil analysis with it enabled for 5K and with it disabled for 5K. Prove your theory of wear.
I'm afraid some people just don't want to hear anything other than their own uniformed opinion.

@Gregs24 ..... you do realize that you are talking to owners of high performance naturally aspirated engines with 12:1 compression ratios, some of whom twin turbo or supercharge them. I speak only for myself but we in NA contribute practically nothing to CO global warming compared to China, India, Africa etc. - the REAL polluters - yet the USA (God bless them ) pays about 3 TRILLION $ a year in CO penalties - which , hopefully, Trump will stop. There is only one solution to global warming - interstellar flight, we've cooked this place.

Yes I do - I drive one with stop start! So do Ferrari, Porsche drivers etc etc My son has 911 with stop start.

If you mod the car then so be it, but most vehicles are not modified globally (not just talking about Mustangs)

It is CO2 not CO that matters (very different gasses) and the US contribution is huge and ongoing. Again data is easily available for historical and ongoing contributions - no need to guess or assume. US politics don't interest me and are not appropriate to discuss on this forum.

Simple, I do it every time I get in, I sit down, put my foot on the brake, push the start button then immediately push the cancel start stop button right next to the start/stop button.
If you consider that a hassle then you have more issues than this.

The only reason I'm glad my car has that feature is to fill in that blank button.

I have a full option Mustang and would be irritated with 1 blank button.
I'll take the blank button every time.
