This is my first S650 Mustang, GT Premium, A10. I'm closing in on 600 miles. When I'm driving in Normal or Sport mode with the exhaust in Track mode, I get a random loud pop when slowing down. I can actually feel it from the rear trunk area if that makes sense. It does not always happen. I'm leaning towards the exhaust as the source. I've read online that people with the Dark Horse reported the same thing, and it was the Active Exhaust.
Has anyone else experienced this?

I just ordered the Ford Performance X pipe. My questions: are does this noise eventually go away as the engine breaks-in? Will the noise get worse with the FORD X Pipe?

PS. I've owned a 2020 and 2023 A10, GT California Special with active exahust and never heard this on those with and without the Ford Performance X pipe.

The pop is the active exhaust doing its thing when the valves are open. Most all sports cars do this. It's normal.

If you don't like it popping I would advise against getting the X pipe or any sporty exhaust modification in general. Even the non-active system has cracks and burbles on occasion, opening up the system will just give you more.

Thanks for chiming in. I just find it weird that my 2020 and 2023 S550's with active exhaust did not do this.

Enjoy the music from the exhaust weatherman. How’s the weather in dirty Jerz?

Exhaust pops and burble are normal, now if its more like a clunk noise when slowing that might be the "driveline clunk"that I had fixed from output shaft. But pops from Exhaust normal. No worries. Enjoy

Thanks for chiming in. It's definitely random and does not happen all the time, but when it does occur, it is while I am slowing down after accelerating. Seems to happen when the car is hot (driven for a while). I'm just not used to it. My 2020 and 2023 S550 with Ford Performance X Pipe did not pop as much.

Well if its exhaust pop and burble thats perfectly normal, you can verify by rolling down windows with stereo off and listen for it. The clunk i had would happen when slowing and you'd hear and sometimes feel it in the rear like trunk area. If you think its the latter take it in to dealership. Cheers 🍻

When your car made that noise due to the output shaft, was it one single noise? Did it happen everytime you were slowing down? Thanks for the input.
