The hate of gas vs electric is like hating left or right wing.
Both have merit. Neither is perfect.
Arguing you chose a EV for the environment is silly. They have a much higher environmental impact to create. Saying you chose a gas engine because EVs have a bigger environmental impact is silly because the gas engines have a bigger impact over time.

Fact is the EV is great for those who want a quick off the line car or that have solar and just want a commute vehicle.
Gas is better for those who like that old school rumble. Or that live in areas where electrical grids are occasionally shut down or where power is unavailable. Also arguably better for those roll race cats as well.

Point being, there’s room for both. One is great for someone. The other is great for someone else.

Y’all need to stop trying to defend yourself for liking what you like, own that shit. And the rest of yall need to quit demanding people like what you like.
❤❤
Interestingly the above scenario indicates it boils down to usage. Ev dirtier until used in excess, ice cleaner until used in excess.

but anyway… yes on this we can agree ‘quit demanding’.

It is nothing like that simple with some EV's considerably 'cleaner' to make than some ICE depending on battery type, location of manufacture of the vehicle and parts that go into it. Without digging deep into an individual model, never mind make or type, it is simply impossible to say one is 'cleaner' than another.

Where they are then used has an impact on how 'clean' they are too.

Local pollution is always a win for an EV with zero tailpipe emissions.

It doesn't fit the narrative of some but it is the reality.

It’s a snow globe we find ourselves in, local is relative to the direction of the wind.

but yes, details matter and knee-jerk responses are simply spasmodic.

While I agree that the demand for used EVs is low and that is reflected in depreciation, the batteries last a lot longer than 6 years. One study shows that EVs will retain 80-90% capacity at 100,000 miles and beyond. Additionally, all EV manufacturers currently offer a minimum of an 8 year/100,000 mile warranty on the battery, and Tesla will replace the entire battery under warranty if it drops below 70% capacity during that time.

And for what it’s worth, studies have shown that gasoline cars catch fire far more often than EVs, though I agree, those fires are more difficult to put out.
Why do you think the warranty is 8 years?
And, the fire stats are per mile, what are they per capita?
Not to mention the differing lethality of fires between ICE and EV.
An ICE car fire can be as simple as overheated brakes setting fire to grease/oil nearby.
Why also, are vehicle carriers starting to ban EV's on their ships. Down here we have all our vehicles shipped to us, never had a single ship lost due to an ICE fire.

There's also something to be said for owning and driving the last of its kind. After all, who wouldn’t have wanted a Tyrannosaurus Rex as a pet right before the dinosaurs went extinct?! 😂

I suspect it would have been you becoming extinct first.

Well, my slow, stone age 2025 Mustang GT ICE car, has enough oomph to get me in trouble real quick and I like it just like it is. I do know that when the accelarator is all the way to the floor, I need to be rather alert and paying attention to things.......

Just to derail the derailing of the original Thread.
Jeez I hate the overuse of the word hate. It's so bloody Gen Z. Some one disagreeing with someone else is a hater, or a Nazi.
I don't hate inanimate objects like EV's, I dislike them.
I may not agree with someone's choice of car, but I will defend to the death their right to be wrong.

These people have no idea about history and Nazi's to go around calling people that. That is disgusting.

Guys, enough already. This is @ridgebackpilot thread. Please go find yourself another thread to have your conversation. Your both being highly disrespectful to OP.
To be fair, it is relevant to a comparison between a Mach-E and a V8. However, point taken as otherwise another thread will get derailed.

I have no issues with EVs, but I did not like Ford calling it a Mustang. For 90% of drivers, they have potential but they are not to my requirements just now. And until our society breaks down and develops a viable nuclear energy policy that cannot be derailed by one or two people and a judge, we will never have the power to charge all of them.

Yesterday, I drove my GT over 600 miles. I could not have done that in an EV, plus finding a hotel with working chargers. It's a work in progress. Some of us will not see it fully happen, if it ever does.
