What has you thinking it’s cancelled?

Are you talking as in a refresh? If so, I personally don’t believe they will do a refresh, and will instead wait to see what Chevy does with the upcoming Camaro before making any moves.

Plus, Ford also runs a gt3 car now, as well as the Dark Horse in gt4, so a refresh may be a little weird if it looks completely different from the car they run in IMSA/WEC, but then again, they could always refresh that car with new panels, so who truly knows.

The next gen coupe is coming in 2028 or 2029, moved up from 2030. So I highly doubt they'd invest in a refresh just to release a new Gen a year or two later.

Sorry I assumed by coupe he meant the 2 door , not the potentially new 4 door. To clarify, I would be shocked if they came out with the next gen version of the 2 door by 2028

We usually see camouflage mules up to a full year or more before…

I don’t see a refresh happening by 2028… and 2029 is possible but too close to “2030” which screams ALL NEW 2030 MUSTANG

unless of course the camo mules start to pop up, I think they milk this design as the company is laser focused on EV and the fathom platform.

S197 had a second refresh for the 2013-2014 model years before they debuted the S550, didn't they? Not saying they'll do that for the S650, but it has happened before at least once.

Ford wants to get the sedan out relatively soon. But an s650 sedan would look dated with s650 styling. Plus if they stuck to their original plan of releasing the next gen coupe in 2030, it would have meant the sedan comes out, and then a year later is immediately dated by a modern modern coupe design coming out, hurting it's appeal.

Moving the next gen redesign up allows Ford to address criticisms about the s650 being lackluster by releasing a redesign sooner than planned. But it also means Ford can stick to a 2029 timeframe for the sedan, but it can share the same fresh design with the coupe being restyled around the same time.

So instead of releasing the sedan, and it immediately looking dated, pressuring Ford to invest in redesigning it quickly, you just get fresh designs for the coupe and sedan around the same time to avoid that issue.

Explorerdude is pretty reliable, but Ford loves to change their plans. Everything is constantly getting shifted around, delayed, canceled, moved up, it's wild. So we'll see if Ford sticks to that.
