Not 100% sold on the exhaust tips, but not a deal breaker for me.
The exhaust tips are probably my favorite part of the car by the way they are shaped like and how the lines flow through to the taillights aesthetically speaking.

I understand the underpinnings are all different etc and the GTD's performance is supercar level. But the car shares the interior and the engine for the most part. And if the DH SC can be tuned, smaller pulley right off the bat, I dunno kind of makes the GTD seem like a big money grab to me.
You can't exactly compare a modified "regular" mustang to the GTD because half the price of the GTD (and the whole reason behind the car) is the rarity of the thing.

If you're looking for best value and bang-for-the-buck, you are not the target audience of the GTD.

I'm happy that Ford is still developing and making fun enthusiast performance cars for the relative masses while other brands are trending the opposite way. There's little profit to be made in this car segment which makes it hard to justify any new performance car development for a high-volume manufacturer like Ford. Any new sports car is something I can get excited about given its high risk and relatively low return on investment for shareholders. Ford and Corvette should be praised for this in my opinion.

As for the naming, I couldn't care less about it not being named a 'Shelby', which to me is such a funny hill to die on for all those critics but to each their own. For me, a Shelby badge nowadays is just a Marketing and licensing deal which would only increase cost for the end customer. When every dollar matters, I'd rather have the $ go into the Engineering side vs. the Marketing side.

I don't plan on upgrading from current darkhorse simply because of the lack of manual in SC, but am hopeful there will be future track-oriented version(s) that will offer a manual. For what it's worth , I don't think resale value of the dark horse models today is any indication of the future, i.e. Ford GT values continue to climb, so any speculation on that front isn't important to me. On the flip side, the current lack of resale value for Dark Horse (vs. Shelby GT350) only further encourages me to enjoy and drive the car, and not worry about putting additional miles on the odometer in fear of what it may do to the resale value. I'm currently approaching 30k miles on my '24 darkhorse base and enjoy every moment driving it.

I applied and got denied for whatever reason. In hindsight I'm glad that I didn't drop $400K on a 4,400 lb carbon clad car (what's up with the weight saving just to get to 4,400 lbs by the way). Anyway if I had ended up with the car it would bug the hell out of me that the heart of the car and the dash is shared with another Mustang priced at +- 25% of the price of a GTD. Not to dismiss the level of performance the GTD has over any other Mustang, but that is not good optics.

Dude, what planet are you on?

The "Dark horse" name is the stupidest fucking name slapped on a Mustang since the Mustang II. The sales of them are shit, and they hold zero resale. I don't give a fuck if you put a jet engine in the damn thing. Ford dropped the ball with the Dark Horse and now they are trying to right the ship with a 100k car. Not-gonna-happen.

Ford has Mach, Boss, etc, but to slap a lame-ass Dark Horse badge in Vette territory is something that came out of the desk of a 35 year old accountant with his head and ass inverted.
Why don't you cry about it 😂 No matter what it's called, it'll do well if it has good performance.

I give Ford credit for still making a V8 performance car, but the price is out of control and just not affordable for a lot of people. I will be staying staying with my base model 25 GT with a Whipple for half the cost.

I give them a pass because the shape matches the grill nostrils so I see where they were going with it

Honestly, regarding the name...I don't care if I meet a woman next week, we get married and her boyfriend buys me one and calls it the Dark Horse SUPER CUCK. At the end of the day, some people will just put more stock into a name, than others. People like myself don't really care.

With that being said...if Ford decides to build a Mustang with a Godzilla engine in it backed by a TR6060/T56 and call it the Boss 445...well, I get a lil' tingly in the jingly!

Regarding the car itself...it's a 2020 GT500. Like it or not, that's what it is. I think at some point, when more details emerge, we should compile a list of not what this car HAS, but what it has that's DIFFERENT over the GT500. Without knowing price, weight, horsepower, etc...it's going to be a while before we can make an accurate/complete list for that.

Remember the M1 vs DH debate? There was a laundry list of updates, improvements, this, that or the other, etc. What did that amount to? 0.2 seconds of difference at VIR at C&D's Lightning Lap. Different days/times, etc, sure...so clearly you have to take it with a grain of salt, but the point still stands. Same tire, same driver, same day...those cars will cut SUPER close lap times. For a nearly $15k difference over 3 years time difference...ouch.

I think the car is cool, I certainly wouldn't kick it out of my garage...but for the price I'm guessing it'll come in at...there are other options that give me more of that "fizz" I'm looking for...

Also, at least make that rotary shifter look like my great grandma's teal rotary telephone I still have as a landline. GIMME THAT OPTION AT LEAST.

In some sense, it has to have some decent resemblance to a regular mustang. The whole point of the GTD was "let's see how far we can take the Mustang as a platform and give it the blank-check treatment."
So it looks and feels like any other mustang inside but at the same time, it's on a completely different level.

Those are just my thoughts. I wouldn't buy one either but I do respect it. It's supposed to be a crazy performance car and also rare/historic/prestigious. You could build a car to make faster lap times for far less money but it would never have that X-factor so to speak.

Kinda disappointed that Red bull made a 23.5 minute video and brought a 2003 Cobra ... then COMPLETELY ignored it. Also, I agree the teal is awful.

All of them
Don’t understand why they’re willing to go in on carbon wheels and brakes, but then skimp out and throw plastic at the bumpers and side skirts. At least make the plastic gloss black for a more premium look. And the front looks kinda cheap/sporty IMO.

You are as blind as a bat. This is a MUSTANG forum and MUSTANG was the FIRST and the LAST. Anyone that STILL gets hung up on that silly comparison has something wrong with them, ahem, like maybe you.
Someone seems to be getting a little triggered. 🤣

Evolution just posted this - Yeah, the hood scoops look like a GTD, and they also look like a Terminator, and yeah, they has a Cobra in that video and ignored it.

7pm tonight.

Maybe it's nothing.
