After about 10 min of hard pulls on the highway (manual trans), my engine oil temp goes up to 273, and then I'd back down because i know at 280 it will go into limp mode. I took it to the dealership and they told me they will change the oil to Mobile (i'm assuming full synthetic) at next oil change.

Is this an issue? They didn't mention anything except when they test drove the car and kept it around 4500 RPM it rose to about 240F.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Nope. I hope I never do. I may spring for an oil cooler just in case.

Yes it is an issue without oil cooler. Engine do run hot on its own. 273 around 10minutes of hard pulls sounds normal.

But then if it reaches 280 the car will go into limp mode. So it was designed to be used hard for 10-15 min and then you have to let the temperatures go down? Or was it designed to run hot and the seals won’t be compromised?

So from what I’ve read ford designed the base GT to be a cruiser, so ford came out with PP package. They do that to make money. Yes you do have to let cool down after a few pulls, racecars at the track do that as well. For limp mode if it’s as simple as common sense then it’s programmed to do that to protect the engine.

The oil should have been synthetic from the factory. Mobil 1 is good stuff.

Completely “normal” for a non oil cooler/PP car. Personally I think its BS but it is what it is.

Actually it should be CASTROL. Ford of Europe uses CASTROL as an OE fill. Castrol 5w30 is on the heavier side of a 30wt and Mobil 1 is on the lighter side of 30wt.
FYI I have mostly run Mobil 1 all my life except for a few instances.

My 370z does it as well. 220 normal driving. A few pulls it got up to 260. It’s normal.

So then after a few pulls Ford just expects you to slow down since the car will reach 280F and will go into limp mode?

Isn't that an unusable car? It was designed for this type of driving. I'm not even going hard for 30 min or an hour. It's literally 10 min - 15 min.
