My Steeda wheels had one chip on the back lip. Not enough for me to complain since you'll never see it and they're sacrificial wheels for winter but they only put foam around the lip on the outer side of the wheel. It would probably be worth foaming both sides if any reps are reading this.
With this second set I tried to convince myself that they would suffice but I couldn’t bring myself to it. This is one of the larger purchases I have made so I want it to be right.

With no markings on the boxes such as fragile or careful when lifting which honestly they wouldn’t listen anyways I’ll have to take matters into my own hands. It didn’t occur to me to even make the drive until I saw the damage for a second time.

Let us know how the inventory looks at LMR. To me, it looks like poor quality control at the manufacturer. Except for the one with the scrape, and if it were FedEx, then the bag should be torn up in that area. Good luck.

I had two GTO 18" wheels shipped from Missouri to me, then shipped them to Weldcraft in Michigan to be widened with no issues either time. They just arrived at my house this afternoon, can't wait to see them. Both the original shipper and I made sure the wheels were packed very well so that even damage to the box wouldn't damage the wheels cosmetically.

I'm hesitant to even get involved in this thread, but here goes; unless the packaging (corrugated box) shows severe damage when you open the boxes, the damages you are seeing came from the manufacturer in China, IMO.

Those wheels are manufactured in China, packaged and shipped in containers to a US port, then trucked on pallets to LMR. Since I'm not privy to LMR's processes, they could be placed into their own packaging at their warehouse, or its already done for them at the manufacturer. I doubt, but may be wrong, that LMR opens every box before shipping to check QC.

LMR would likely have a damage agreement with the manufacturer, although I've also seen their blemished wheels on eBay before, so they may just accept the risk and make up for the losses with sale volume.

There are several grades of packaging that can be used. Beyond that, proper packaging is something many manufacturers don't consider as important. It costs them money 2 fold. Both in shipping costs and extra packaging material. More than likely, someone has done a risk assessment analysis and determined the amount of material they use is adequate.

Either way, without noticeable damage on the boxes, its not the shipping company creating the damage, regardless of who it is, or the shipper is not adequately packaging the wheel to be shipped thousands of miles.

If you've ever bought a high dollar forged wheel, you'll notice how well packaged it is when it shows up.

Sure will. And the lip protector has holes in the exact spot where the dings are

I feel safekeeping the wheels is such an easy task I don’t know how it gets missed all the costs to make the wheel then bad coverage for protection is just silly.

That’s what’s weird it has the double box then the wheel is in a plastic bag that has a foam sheet a plastic lip protector and protective cardboard then the cardboard in between each box. It almost looks exactly like this photo. Maybe it’s not FedEx?

I'm not dismissing shipping companies in general. Sometimes they live up to their rep, but not all the time.

If you make the trip to LMR, ask them if its okay for you to check the new wheels before loading them up and heading home. I doubt they'll object.
Safe travels

Leaving in the morning. That’s the only way I’m walking away with anything I’ll be getting a refund and looking elsewhere if I can’t leave totally satisfied with the rim condition.

Great experience yesterday at LMR. Got to talk with some of the guys while I looked over the wheels. Wheels are in great condition. My experience only confirmed what I already knew LMR has always been awesome to work with. Wheels are getting mounted next week then ceramic coated. šŸ‘
