  1. New S650 Mustang render from Road & Track

I agree, but I'm guessing that R&T is on the right track and most of the changes will be somewhat subtle. Yes, the tail lights will change and the front fascia and the hood. The sides will probably change a little as well. But in general I would think it won't be anything major where it would...
  2. What will it take to save the V8 Mustang?

Oh I agree. I just bought a GR86. It costs half what a new Mach 1 costs. I didn't need another big, boaty V8 Mustang. Even though I love V8 engines I still bought something with a crappy 4 cylinder in it because I like the rest of the car better. So I know I'm not helping. But I just...
  3. New S650 Mustang test prototype shots from Frisco Colorado sighting (June 15, 2022) - Updated With Video

It's too bad you can't get Spain to change those laws. 35% in taxes is outrageous. I'm sure it has a negative impact on the economy.
  4. What will it take to save the V8 Mustang?

It all depends on the consumer. If people refuse to buy anything other than a V8, then the V8 will stay around. But if people don't care, then it will go away. My last purchase I didn't buy a new V8 car because they are all direct injected now. I don't really want a direct injection V8...
  5. We Ask DOT Secretary Pete Buttigieg the Thorny EV Infrastructure Questions

I believe this is why automobile manufacturers want EVs so badly, even though consumers don't want them. Car builders don't want the average age of a vehicle on the road to be 12 years. They want all vehicles on the road to be relatively new, because vehicles no longer last. Gas engines are...
  6. What will it take to save the V8 Mustang?

I'm not talking about rich/lean or poor ignition timing. This is due to valve overlap inherent in the cam profiles. And yes you can get the idle to smooth out by setting it really high, but what's the fun in that? I used to have a cheaply built 302 with GT40 heads, EFI and a somewhat large...
  7. What will it take to save the V8 Mustang?

I always think modern EPA-compliant V8 noises are somewhat sterile. And they all kind of sound the same. I really love the sound of a V8 with a cam that has lots of valve overlap. There are a couple different rhythms that happen. It sounds like it could die at any moment. It's just a lot...
  8. What will it take to save the V8 Mustang?

I think that's more the states wanting a little more cash flow. Not that it's dangerous to work with low voltage and should really require a license.
  9. Ford announces 7th Gen Mustang S650 with teaser sound clip! 🔊

Just swap rear end gears. Your 2016 will feel plenty strong at launch with 3.73 rear gears.
  10. What will it take to save the V8 Mustang?

I disagree. It's not that easy to kill yourself with gas. Electric all you have to do is touch the wrong thing and you are dead, dead dead. You can throw a match at a puddle of gas and not even get a fire, much less an explosion. Based on what you said in the first paragraph I'm not sure...
  11. Ford announces 7th Gen Mustang S650 with teaser sound clip! 🔊

Are you saying that the racing version of the engine will have to meet longevity and emissions requirements for a passenger car? I think it's entirely reasonable that a racing version of a 5.0 Coyote could make 600 HP. Look at what Nascar does with 5.7 pushrod engines - something north of 750...
  12. What will it take to save the V8 Mustang?

12 volts isn't very dangerous, but EVs also don't use 12 volts. Google says 450 volts for a Tesla battery. That's real danger. The nice thing about an ICE is you can see and hear if it's running. As long as it isn't running you only have to worry if it just ran and it's still hot. Super...
  13. What will it take to save the V8 Mustang?

It's pretty dangerous working on an electric vehicle. Kind of like working on an internal combusion engine while it's running. Touch the wrong thing and you are dead. I'd do a gas engine swap in a heartbeat, but I don't think I would try messing with an EV.
  14. Ford Announces 6,200 New Jobs & Upgrading Plants to Deliver Electric Vehicles & 7th Gen Mustang Coupe

I bet you are right. Coupe means it's the 2 door Mustang, not the minivan Mustang.
  15. Ford announces 7th Gen Mustang S650 with teaser sound clip! 🔊

Hopefully if Ford goes to a larger engine it will be a real change (more than 10% added displacement). Definitely it sounds good in the clip. Kind of bassy. Probably just somebody pushed up the low end of the equalizer. Similar to the green color shown in the teaser for grabber lime that...
  16. C&D: 2024 Mustang Will Debut on April 17, 2023

I looked it up and the 4.6 in 1996 was rated at 215 HP.
  17. C&D: 2024 Mustang Will Debut on April 17, 2023

For some reason I had it in my mind that Ford de-rated the 302 right before the 4.6 was released. My assumption was that they did it because the 4.6 was a junky engine that wasn't as good as the 302. So Ford wanted to be able to say that the 4.6 was a power increase when really it wasn't.
  18. Newest S650 Mustang rendering by Carscoops based on leak looks real

I agree it's a slight change to S550 so people will see it and think "Mustang". IMO it looks pretty decent in general. I like it. Yeah I have some reservations about the side scoops as well. New Edge was one of the fuglier Mustangs ever made and they definitely have that feel to them.
  19. 2024 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Potentially Spotted Testing With Current Model

Oh yeah, my heart is fluttering as well. 😏
