  1. Motortrend's Turn at 2024 Mustang GT (S650) Rendering

I'm mostly hoping either the hood is a little longer or other changes are made to the body to fit a larger engine in the bay (something like a high performance version of the 7.3 or a Ford truck 6.8 liter V10 re-engineered to make ~100 hp/liter). Otherwise IMO the S550 is attractive enough to...
  2. New S650 Mustang render from Road & Track

Those are a lot of good points and you are right. I don't think any of them are impossible to overcome, but there are definitely barriers to using hydrogen as a fuel. Not least is energy density. Why are you arguing about our conversation? We were just talking politely until you came...
  3. New S650 Mustang render from Road & Track

Gasoline is arguably worse than hydrogen as far as the threat of fire and explosions. It's just that people are accustomed to using gas as a fuel.
  4. New S650 Mustang render from Road & Track

That's not funny at all. Hydrogen would be good, but I think C3H8 would be a better way to go. Propane burns very cleanly and gasoline engines can be converted. It's cheaper and easier to store than hydrogen. There's also a large distribution network.
  5. 6/1/22 unveil for S650 Mustang or something else?

ECO boost more rev-happy? Meaning it doesn't rev as well? I owned a V6 Mustang at one time and I did like it, but the GT is better. You will like the BRZ. I bought a GR86 this year. It's a lot of fun. Less than 30 grand for the base car. And remember it weighs 1,000 lbs less than a...
  6. 6/1/22 unveil for S650 Mustang or something else?

You bought the EB to save money over a V8. You shouldn't feel bad about it. It does seem like you would rather have had a V8, but you had the common sense to buy the EB, since it fit your use case better at the time. I probably wouldn't buy a Mustang without a V8, unless Ford changed the car...
  7. New S650 Mustang render from Road & Track

The world hasn't changed much, but the rules that people make are changing for sure. Not directed at you, but some people in this thread are so negative! You act like the current Mustang is horrible and it has to get a lot better to be competitive. From what I see the Mustang wins a lot of...
  8. Hood angle similar to the 1961 Thunderbird

There are a large number of cars from the 50s-70s that are great looking. Tri 5 Chevys. Nomads, Apache pickups - all are fantastic IMO. 1967 Chevelle? Yum. Chargers, Challengers, 'Cuda are excellent. I like the original T bird design a lot. Early 60s 'vettes are great. I like GTOs a lot...
  9. Hood angle similar to the 1961 Thunderbird

OMG you made me look. I vomited a little. IMO every single 60s incarnation of the T bird is remarkably ugly. I knew there were some pretty poor aesthetics there before, but now looking deliberately through the years it is insane how bad they are.
  10. Hood angle similar to the 1961 Thunderbird

I agree with your statement that the 1960 Thunderbird is uglier. However, I would submit to you that my statement is still correct. If you are looking for ugly cars, this era of T birds are pretty much the epitome.
  11. Hood angle similar to the 1961 Thunderbird

One of the ugliest cars ever made, the 1961 T bird.
  12. New S650 Mustang test prototype shots from Frisco Colorado sighting (June 15, 2022) - Updated With Video

You know what they say about getting what you pay for. The only bad thing about the benefits you get from the government for buying an electric or hybrid is that at the end you own an electric or hybrid.
  13. New S650 Mustang render from Road & Track

It's what we've got to talk about right now. If you have something better, please post it. I would love to comment on that as well. Oooh, oooh! Yes please.
  14. When do you think the S650 will be revealed?

I think we could debate "brilliant mechanical execution". Camaro and Mustang are within split seconds of each other as far as performance goes, if they have similarly stiff suspension, similar power and similar tires. But GM's vaunted Alpha platform cost more money than the Mustang platform to...
  15. When do you think the S650 will be revealed?

I think it's good to discuss what people want the Mustang to be. I don't want a future Mustang to be like this last generation Camaro (a failure). It seems like people think they can get something for nothing. There's a consequence for additions to the Mustang design. I'd rather have Ford...
  16. When do you think the S650 will be revealed?

I assume any SUV chassis is set up for front wheel and four wheel drive. That means the engine has to be high up above the front suspension to give room for the front driveline components. Yes you can probably modify the chassis raising the front suspension up or lowering the engine location...
  17. When do you think the S650 will be revealed?

I guess we will never know what would have been, but I'm really glad the Mustang is on the current car platform and not an SUV platform. IMO Mustang is already too large and high off the ground. I would be surprised if the CD6 version would have been smaller and lighter with better fuel...
  18. New S650 Mustang render from Road & Track

I hope for significant changes too. I'd really like the car to get a little smaller and lighter. I was really hoping for engine changes more so than anything else. The main reason I have bought Mustangs in the past were for the engines. But from what I'm hearing the engine will be about the...
  19. When do you think the S650 will be revealed?

I paid under $33K for my base GT in 2014 and when I bought my GT350 in 2015 sticker was less than $60k. IMO $60k is too much for a Mustang unless it's a really special car. Yes I agree. Mustangs are attainable, but are they worth the high current price tag? The ~$10K increase in less than...
