  1. 2024 S650 Mustang V8 to Approach 500 Horsepower

I haven't studied how the regulations work, but I would assume the regulations don't require full throttle, high RPM operation. A big V8 can limp through the standard test at 1,000 rpm, lugging the engine all the way and even damaging it to get the best short term fuel economy. So I doubt the...
  2. Will the 2024 Motor be a Gen 4 Coyote?

21 is brand new. I should hope it will take at least a couple years for the horror stories to start. Man, this is too bad. First we get the direct injection and cheap plasma wire transfer arc cylinder liners... now auto stop start and cylinder deactivation? The Coyote really went downhill...
  3. 2024 S650 Mustang V8 to Approach 500 Horsepower

Approaching is the key word. If you compare to 200 hp, 460 is definitely approaching 500. And yes, anything above 450 would round up to 500. If it gets heavier and has the same power as now plus it costs more, I would be a person that would turn it down. Power definitely enters into this...
  4. S650 Mustang To Get Dual Air Cleaner Intake

Based on the wording of his comment, he wouldn't have had an NDA. But his customer might be upset.
  5. Do you think there will be a GT350 or GT500 in first year of the New S650 2022/2023 ? ? ? ?

I agree they should keep FPC V8 displacement under 10 liters. But 5 (or 6 or 7) certainly isn't too large. It just requires a balancing of bore vs. stroke to keep piston speeds reasonable.
  6. Will the 2024 Motor be a Gen 4 Coyote?

I think it is steel on the older cars like my 2017, but I agree metal is better than plastic.
  7. Report: Mustang AWD and Hybrid Plans Cancelled

One thing I would like to say (hopefully in a reasonably polite and non-argumentative way @Twin Turbo ) is that if you take an S550 Mustang GT to the road course you will be impressed by it. It probably isn't great for street racing in stock form, but it's plenty fast if you get it off the...
  8. Report: Mustang AWD and Hybrid Plans Cancelled

There really isn't competition for the Mustang. BMW has lost its way according to the reviewers. They are no longer fun to drive. Corvette is automatic only. Camaro and Dodge are gone. The new Z isn't great. The Toyota Supra is only offering a few manuals to connected or lucky people...
  9. 2024 S650 Mustang Steering Wheel

I'm sure I will get used to it if I end up buying one. I am glad that all models changed together I guess. That's a lot better than some kind of randomness. One thing that's nice is the GR86 has the audio controls on the same side as the 2017 GT. So it's easier for me transitioning back and...
  10. Report: Mustang AWD and Hybrid Plans Cancelled

You are talking more about development costs than production costs. They can't add a bunch of components to every car without raising the price. The platform tooling is a one-time cost. I doubt it matters much in the cost of each car. Probably Ford didn't spend the money on the platform...
  11. 2024 S650 Mustang Steering Wheel

The Fiesta ST steering wheel in the 2018 FiST I owned was definitely better than the steering wheel is in my 2017 GT. I prefer the perforated leather over the solid, it was also a better size (smaller). But the GT wheel is fine. So I would be happy if the wheel was more like the FiST wheel...
  12. Report: Mustang AWD and Hybrid Plans Cancelled

You didn't mention inexpensive. Prices have increased recently, but it also used to be a fairly inexpensive vehicle. It's tough to keep a car light if you try to add a bunch of content to it. If you could add hybrid and AWD without adding a bunch of weight (and cost), I personally still would...
  13. Report: Mustang AWD and Hybrid Plans Cancelled

I can agree with the things you were saying in the beginning of the post. The S550 is pretty SUV-ish. It's almost 4,000 lbs (some versions are over 4,000 lbs). It has a high center of gravity. When I sit in my GR86 my eyes are below the door mirrors on the S550, and I'm 6'4". I think the...
  14. Do you think there will be a GT350 or GT500 in first year of the New S650 2022/2023 ? ? ? ?

Looks great! I'd love to see an engine like that in a Mustang. Hopefully that power production is with an emissions legal camshaft and hopefully those headers would fit into the Mustang. I agree it's no Voodoo, but if it was an aluminum block it would be a decent straight line vehicle at...
  15. Do you think there will be a GT350 or GT500 in first year of the New S650 2022/2023 ? ? ? ?

I like the idea of increasing displacement, but I'm worried about whether a pushrod engine will make enough power to be an improvement to the 5.0. Consider that Chevy's LS 7 - 7 liter sports car pushrod engine only made 505 HP. The Coyote is not far below that. And the LS7 had all kinds of...
  16. Do you think there will be a GT350 or GT500 in first year of the New S650 2022/2023 ? ? ? ?

I think they will announce the upcoming halo model sometime in the next 6 months and then release it late next year or early the year after. I really wish the 5.2 would have never happened in a way. Yes both the Voodoo and Predator are great engines, but adding 4% to the engine displacement is...
  17. Report: All Electric EV Mustang Generation Comes in 2028

I have done that also. And Ford even built a conceptual EV Mustang with a manual transmission, so I think they hear people like me in that regard. Hybrids are practical right now, but I don't like the complexity, weight or cost. I'd prefer to wait until pure EVs are good enough and cheap...
  18. Report: All Electric EV Mustang Generation Comes in 2028

I've told myself if history repeats and they start making Mustang IIs again, I'm not going to be the person who trades in my big block for an anemic 4 cylinder. I don't care which model sits on the hood. Sometimes buying the latest and "greatest" might not be the best move. I won't be...
  19. Report: All Electric EV Mustang Generation Comes in 2028

The thing is, all aluminum V8s are not very heavy for how much power they make. Sure you can make a small V8 and save 100 lbs or maybe even 150. But the EV stuff is MASSIVE. The car will be a lot heavier with a hybrid system if the system has any kind of decent power output and range. And...
  20. Report: All Electric EV Mustang Generation Comes in 2028

Talk to me about the Bolt EV. Talk to me about the recalled Mach Es. Just because one specific (and expensive) EV works well, doesn't mean all future EVs will work well. I know I have read an article this year where an EV's batteries were projected to just barely be above the warranty recall...
