Middleton Motorsports did a back to back dyno before and after removing the carbon filters. The difference was pretty negligible; 1 hp gained at peak and 4-5 hp in the midrange.

I suppose it depends on what you're looking for. In the grand scheme of things, it seems like performance of the S650 is basically on par with the S550, so you're not really getting any additional performance for your money. What you are getting is updated styling, both exterior and interior...
Before we continue the discussion, can we get confirmation of the redline from one of the actual owners that have taken delivery? From what I remember, Carlos Lago was the only one that mentioned the lower redline, and he happened to be using the shift light. Perhaps it’s a software issue...
This is a really well done video of a 22 GT and a 24 GT on the dyno, and both cars are very similar in spec (autos, and stock with an X-pipe). They also weigh both cars so you can see the difference.
I personally think that 15% parasitic drivetrain loss is too high for modern cars. Twelve percent seems to be the sweet spot for a modern 6 speed car, and that would put 440 wheel hp to right at 500 crank, which would make sense since these engines are SAE tested and they're using SAE...
Losing the ambient lights in the cupholders is such a piddly little thing in the grand scheme, but it just comes off as such a cheap move. I always liked the cupholder lights in my S550.
What makes you say that? The S650 is basically a reskinned S550 with an extra 20 hp that gets offset by the nearly 100 lb weight increase. There hasn't really been anything added here that's going to move the performance needle majorly in any direction.
For me, the Dark Horse is about the transmission and the added coolers for track duty (as well as looks, but that's subjective). I like the gearing of the Tremec better for tooling around town, and I like having the added coolers for the occasional track day. The reality is though, that...
Thanks, that's exactly the kind of stuff I was looking for! I had no idea they changed the front fenders from aluminum to steel. I wonder if this was a cost savings thing or a structural/crash related change? I assume cost, but I'll give Ford the benefit of the doubt.
Do 24 GTs have a trans temp and diff temp gauge in the track apps, or is that only for the Dark Horse because of the coolers? Those would be nice to know, even if the car didn't have coolers.
One of my favorite mods to my 2015 GT PP was the Ford Performance Boss 302 style side exit X-pipe. Most websites are listing it as being a 15-23 part, and with the S650 being so similar to the S550, I'm curious if it will fit. From the few pictures we've seen of the underside of the S650, it...
It seems the GT PP is about 100 lbs heavier than last year, and I was wondering if we know any of the reasons why? Perhaps I've missed it, but has Ford talked about any of the things that have caused the weight to increase? I'm sure the dual throttle body and two intake box design weighs more...
I went back and watched a couple of the early videos on YouTube after the reveal (Raiti's Rides and Doug DeMuro), and from what I could tell, the cupholders did not have the LED ring at the bottom. Granted these were early preproduction cars (they may have actually been the same car), but that...
Having a HUD would be a welcome option, IMO. For what it’s worth, I always wear polarized sunglasses when I drive, and for the last two new cars I drove I didn’t have any issues seeing the HUD display.
I noticed that Carlos Lago was using the shift lights in the car and there was a line on the tach at the highest setting (7250 RPM). I wonder if it’s a weird software glitch associated with the shift light setting? Maybe that’s wishful thinking…
I asked about the soft limiter in the SavageGeese...
