  1. HOW TO: Radar Detector Hard Wire Install with BlendMount

There is a popular myth here, and it is easy to see. When it comes to risks, doing 65 instead of 50 nearly doubles the stoping distance. So what if the Altima is the one vehicle you don't see in time?
  2. 2024+ Mustang GT Air Intake Filters

Amazing. There are at least a half dozen Dyno shops who have proved that removing the carbon filters does NOT improve the HP and/or torque, throttle response, or any other detectable change. Yet folks swear it does. I guess myths prevail!
  3. speed with top down

I've owned one convertible in my whole life—a very warmed over XR2. It didn't matter what the speed was, nor the ambient, it was just plain noisy! The manual suggested rolling up all of the windows. Oh great! Doing do caused so much buffeting, you couldn't hear yourself think. I sympathize.
  4. 2024 Mustang New Recall - October 28th

Any personal computer user should understand upgrades. Especially so if you're a Windows user! I prefer Macs, but I do own an HP laptop for the sole purpose of loading drivers on to a ballistics chronograph. I get 5 to as many as 7 security updates for the Window machine every week! I don't get...
  5. Setting The Standard in Aftermarket Automotive Lighting Upgrades | Diode Dynamics

Really? Why would they. After all, there aren't any non-LED lamps in the whole vehicle!
  6. Infotainment System Blanks Out Intermittently

The first thing "I" would do, is reset the info-center. The instructions are on page 429 of the manual. You will have to reenter the owner data, but that doesn't take very long.
  7. Ownership update

I agree. Anyone who thinks the 10R80 is trash, should drive one a few times in Drag mode. Holy Bleeding Anus Batman! The shifts are nothing short of brutal. Fact is, you can't even get the clutch to the floor as fast as the 10R80 shifts! Ask yourself why F1 racers have given up on manuals...
  8. DFB's Detailing Garage

Whoa! Seeing so many cleaning supplies in one place (other tan an auto parts store) makes me think there is some OCD going on! One comment... DO NOT wash your engine with a high pressure washer! Especially one (Eco-Boost?) where water can be forced into the spark plug housings!
  9. What is this symbol?

I just have a simple question? I am aware that Ford (and everyone else too!) no longer print specific to VIN owners manuals. They should, however, publish specific ones on line, which could easily be tied to any one VIN. They don't even do that! However, you can still download the generic one...
  10. Steering Wheel Not Centered

They still adjust the tie rods. That said, it should never be delivered as reported. Mine was, but they did fix it (realigned).
  11. Mustang GT premium vert with PP+Magnaride, 401A, NPP

My opinion: The only reason to spend $6,400 to 'seal' the vehicle is if you intend to keep it for many years. Even then, it would need to be garaged, parked 100 feet from any other vehicle, and driven only in fair weather. As stated by others, depreciation is your biggest expense, with the rest...
  12. Service - road test joy rides

I have observed that myself. Long story, but the short of it is, they took my (then) Honda to lunch! Problem was, they were seen leaving the restaurant and a friend of mine recognized the license plate. All the time while I was waiting in the lobby. A text and iPhone call later, and... I have...
  13. Seasonal formulas for gasoline.

Particularly for Eco-Boost owners, this EPA web page should shed some enlightenment on performance: https://www.epa.gov/gasoline-standards/gasoline-reid-vapor-pressure The seasonal change in RVP (Reid Vapor Pressure) can be quite evident. For example, you fill your turbo'd car with Summer...
  14. Problems Already

Even my 2019 Ranger has an AGM. Nice too, as there is no outgassing to erode the terminals!
  15. Why not vent on Ecoboost hood?

This is not my first turbo, but rather the ninth! All of them had some heat issues, especially the two Corvair Spiders. At a minimum, I think Ford should offer as an upgrade to the Eco-Boost by using the same hood as the GT. As it is now, I usually open the hood when I get home, just to let that...
  16. Problems Already

My 2019 Ranger started doing the same thing about 3 years ago. It still starts right up with no ill effects. I just ignore the warning.
  17. B&O Sound System

It is like horse power; The more you spend the louder the output! I suspect there is a limit(s) set by the vehicle manufacturer. Imagine proving you have hearing loss due to the loudness of your car stereo, and the possible effect on manufacturer? Doesn't keep you from going to a decent car...
  18. The Dash cam thread

I believe the basic difference between dash cams is the customer service given by the seller/brand. This fact is why I use Rexing products. If you looked at the country of origin, you'd find out the vast majority are made in China. You can almost be 100% assured the CCD Image device(s) are made...
  19. how were getting low 9s / high 8s out of the 2024

There are several YouTube videos covering a 2022 Ranger, running upwards of 600 HP. I know they're running E85, much higher boost, and at sometime rebuilt the bottom end. I believe the head and block are stock. As mentioned, all it takes is money. The Aussies are running 4.0L Barras upwards of...
  20. how were getting low 9s / high 8s out of the 2024

I know I'm talking apple vs. oranges, but if I knew I could get my stock (but tuned) 2024 Eco-Boost into the mid 13s, I'd almost have an orgasm!
