Particularly for Eco-Boost owners, this EPA web page should shed some enlightenment on performance:
https://www.epa.gov/gasoline-standards/gasoline-reid-vapor-pressure
The seasonal change in RVP (Reid Vapor Pressure) can be quite evident. For example, you fill your turbo'd car with Summer rated RVP, drive up to your cabin in the hills. The next morning when the ambient is ≈25°F, and you have trouble starting your car, you'll know why.
