Because they want the attitude and feel of a Mustang, but in a 4 door. š¤£
itās never been done before!
(my favorite marketing term they keep using)
Honestly itās not a secret that their board doesnāt like sports cars for historic reasons. Akio is the one who spearheaded their new renaissance as the CEO (now as the head of the board), but did it over time.
Heās trying his absolute hardest to create enthusiasts cars that can capture each...
I know that, they did that because historically they donāt sell many. They recently looked at it though and thought it was good enough to create new sports cars in house with the Celica, Supra, MR2, and a new GR86. They also created a new sports cars platforms platform that pivoted into the...
Yeah itās crazy to me. Yet these other manufacturers see those small sales and still develop new platforms. I just want to know the thought process behind it all.
Thatās what Iām curious about honestly, just because in other worlds that small amount of sales was just enough to justify new platforms. For example Supra and GR86 are drops in the bucket in sales comparably, they were collaboration cars for that reason, but now theyāre developing/developed 3...
Yeah but they also outsell those cars by a good amount while being down. I always think itās crazy how Mustang is down on sales, yet the Supra in 24 sold 2,600 cars.
Even outsold much cheaper coupes.
I could only imagine. They would be skeptical, but some would say the Mustang is still outselling other sports coupes by a decent margin, some would say a new chassis would spark more interest, etc.
Pretty much what 1987 said above
Closest they got was that Cobra concept Ford was thinking about producing, but that ship sailed long ago.
and like you were saying, even back then if it were produced it was supposed to cost around 83k. Thatās in 2004. Lol
When I say debacle what do you think I mean? That the Mach E isnāt good? Iām talking about the video and podcasts where employees working on it and around it didnāt want to name it Mustang, or how Farley said they originally changed the name from just āMach 1ā because of backlash but doubled...
Hate sidetracking threads but the whole Mach E debacle is so weird and stupid. Lol.
All the internal struggle with the naming and Farley contradicting himself, is the reason why I canāt take these people seriously when they say āFord wants to make Mustang into a brand.ā Farley wants to make a...
Itās understandable to an extent, but Carroll in his final years did pivot the Third party Mustang line into entry level GTs and modifying special edition Mustangs. He kinda figured out where his shop can go while the Ford Performance group got the legacy names.
Now we have GT350 R and...
Yeah, all the āShelbyā cars after the Ford/Shelby reunion couldāve easily been Cobras or Bosses essentially.
I could see why Ford went in with the Shelby names though, it was historically the first SVT/FP group for them. Things are just too different now (and like you said a big mess with how...
