I’m an advocate of Hal Sperlich’s idea before he passed. Go back to somewhat of the size of the original, but my take is modernizing the design further while still adding the Mustang cues like you said.

Ironically John Clor from FP in a recent podcast brought this up. He said that Hal Sperlich was saying the 8th generation should go back to being the smaller affordable car in general like the first gen but obviously with its own chassis.
