It appears to be sucking up 30-60 horsepower at 100mph, too, though.

One way to compare would be to spend a lot of time at the track, keeping good records of your lap times and conditions.

Then install something like AJ Hartman's aero.

Then continue tracking your lap times and conditions.

Is there a consistent reduction in lap times in similar conditions?

Example: My favorite track was Mid Ohio in Lexington, OH. Have run there about 3 times a year for 12 years. My best time was around 1:41, with stock OEM aero on my Roush mustang. Once I converted car to dedicated track car, adding AJ Hartman aero, Splitter, Wing, Diffuser, Canards and dropping some weight (car and driver), I began running times in 1:38+. Best time at Mid Ohio was a 1:36 during the NASA Championships in 2019, placing 8th in a field of 12. Damn Beemers were unbeatable. Anyway, yes, real track times and conditions proved AJ's Aero works and yes, I lost some straight line speed, dropped about 10 mph. Back straight at MO I used to run 145-150 mph, but with the new aero, I was running 135-140. To compensate I wanted more HP, but that would have dropped me into TT2 or TT1 class and the cars there were insanely fast.
AJ's daily track car is his 1999 mustang, running in American Iron Class. He picked up the S550 GT350 in 2020 and began transforming it into a track car, doing tons of aero testing, etc.

Interesting fact regarding downforce on F1 Cars. Never going to happen but if a long drivable corkscrew entry and exit were placed on a long upside down highway the following would be possible after 1 & 2 below were covered.

1. F1 Driver willing to display the downforce engineering and capabilities of an F1 car.
2. F1 team owner willing to provide F1 car.

An F1 car creates enough downforce to defy gravity and at speed be planted enough to drive upside down without dropping. To slow entering or exiting the corkscrews or not maintaining speed on the upside down stretch = gravity takes over and bad things happen. That's some serious downforce.

Just like a wing then. They can lift 1000's of kilos.

It'll be interesting to see what Vulcan Alpha come up with on Charoudin's DH. The 'Ring is a real downforce critical track apparently.
I also wonder about high downforce aero on street cars like GT3's and such, can't help fuel economy.
