Wow. Just now on my way to work the car (a new GT convertible/performance) suddenly wouldn’t go any faster than 35 km/h. The engine was fine, that was just no response. I could push in the throttle all I want, but that speed would not be exceeded.

There were no warning lights, no indication of any trouble. There’s no speed limit set, and nothing else was out of the ordinary. I just had to crawl to work instead of driving normally.

I am waiting for tow truck. Because they’re gonna have to take it and investigate thoroughly. There’s no way I’m driving a car that will suddenly refuse to go over 35 km an hour without a reason.

Anyone else ever experienced anything similar?

I've had it happen to me in my GT 5 or 6 times over 28 months. Not sure what it is/was. Stopped the GT, shut it off, opened drivers door to shut off any residual electric stuff that operates after engine shut off. Shut drivers door, started GT, GT drove normally on each occasion.

My Focus RS and Focus ST did this **** once in a while too, so it must be a "no extra charge" Ford ownership perk.

Good luck getting it sorted.

Throttle body failure? Happened on the first gen s550s but symptoms were different. Curious what they say

Really surprised you haven’t investigated that WM, imagine it happening when pulling it into traffic!

And today that is pretty much what happened to me. Very hazardous situation and I do not want a repeat!

It went into limp mode. Something electronically faulted. Dealer issue.
It's with the nearest dealer now. I just pray they find something in the fault code memories, rather than just "we couldn't find anything"!

"Car seems fine come pick it back up"

I had a car do this a bunch of times and they could never fix it. Talked about replacing wiring and other stuff but it kept doing it so I traded it in.

I know what the problem is.

You pressed the speed limiter button on the left side of your steering wheel. It limits your speed to a specific speed.
Probably possible, ‘venting’ was my diagnosis based upon frustration. 😁

First thing I thought too! But I immediately checked. The option is set to "warn only", and the limit on that road is 50, so 35 would not be happening either way - right?

But it *IS* possible that that speed limiter mechanism just malfunctioned. I hope that's all it was because then they can fix it - I hope!

I had the speed limiter set on even lower speed. You can set the speed limiter manually on a specific speed. I think mine was on 15mph.
