Hey all.

I have refueled my new Mustang GT three times now. Two of those times it was very difficult. Even when I’m only squeezing slightly it’s still clicks off every a few seconds. I’m not sure if I’m not inserting the pump for enough, or insert to get too far, if I’m doing something else wrong.

And I’m not sure why once it worked fine.

I have been driving and refusing cars for half a century. This is the same gas station that I use for my Audi, so it’s not likely to be the pump.

What am I doing wrong?

Strange. NP refueling mine. I have experienced similar quick shut off issues, on a couple of my previous vehicles; which I solved by not inserting the refueling nozzle so far into my filler tube. Hope you get it sorted OK.

🤣😂🤣😂 he said, ‘don’t stick it in so far.’ 😂🤣😂🤫. But yeah, give that a try, try just far enough that it holds itself in place, kinda like quarter vs full cock. (Oh shoot that’s umm - hopefully you get the point 😉)

Definitely your technique. Not in far enough or in too far. I've gassed up at all of the big brands including mom and pops. I refuel at full pressure. No issues.

The stale thing odd, I have tried every position. Only a tiny bit in. Try. Insert a bit more. Try. More. Try. More. Try. Almost ask the way. Try. All the way. Try.

And all fall. No idea why. And since I have been successfully refueling, cars for exactly 50 years, I can’t say I am terribly impressed at this Ford mechanism…!

Not being facetious but any chance you tried upside down? Maybe it’s not your ford but your pump.

It was a bit difficult to get it upside down the way the car was positioned, but I did think of that. I’ll try next time.

However, I have used this gas station, and all its pumps, for at least four years now. Because it’s the only gas station in the wide area that has 94 octane gas. All the others just have 91.

If I didn't know better, I would swear that this guy isn't talking about refueling his car. I think, maybe, he made this post for the giggles...

But to this vein.... I would say that if your gas is cutting off early, try not and squeeze so hard on the nozzle. Just my .02 cents...

I have had issues at pumps that use vapor recovery modules (like for recovering vapors from the pump to tank connection) on ALL cars with the capless fuel systems. If it doesn't get the right seal it won't work real well. I'd start by going to another station and verifying if the issue is with the car or the pump style.

I am talking about refueling - the typos are the iPhone.

And the problem occurs even when I am squeezing *ever* so gently, just a trickle.

I will have to try. Unfortunately, no other gas stations around here have high octane gas (94). All others in my area have just 91...

Try different gas stations. It's probably the pump or maybe its malfunctioning. I had few issues on mine when new. The gas overflowed once or twice. Works just fine now though.
