Hey! The spring it self is designed to help the driver have a more engaging feeling clutch. It makes the clutch pedal feel more linear and easier to predict the engagement point. It also helps eliminate the springy feeling from the clutch that drivers eventually feels.

Just my own experience in the S550, but I can attest the features of the Steeda spring described here. Was such a simple but useful/pleasurable mod.

I did the Steeda clutch spring a while back. I hadn’t owned a manual in probably 40 years, so with my inexperience, I really didn’t notice a difference in the feel. But somehow I was suddenly shifting much smoother in the low gears. So yeah, get it!

I did the Steeda clutch spring a while back. I hadn’t owned a manual in probably 40 years, so with my inexperience, I really didn’t notice a difference in the feel. But somehow I was suddenly shifting much smoother in the low gears. So yeah, get it!

I did this tonight and had the same experience. (Zach, gave you credit for the sale.) Clutch feel went from nothing to actually feeling it engage.
Clutch is a little heavier, but mine is not a daily driver.

My question is- why is the OEM spring so heavy? Prioritizing a lighter clutch?

so, I installed the spring and this is an absolut game changer. I never felt confident with the oem spring in my launches and every traffic light was hell. the nonlinearity of the oem spring just confused the heck out of me. now there is a consistent linear feel and no more guess work where the clutch point might or might not be. the clutch is now slightly harder overall but that's a small price to pay and doesnt bother me.

Assembly is "easy". Even as as a regular joe this spring can be installed in like 30 minutes. It is extremely annoying to do so because you have to put this 3 part greasy assembly into place while pushing down the clutch pedal. I recommend to use 2 zip ties to keep the spring compressed until it's in place. keep some paper towel at hand so you dont get grease on your trim.

conclusion: if you are like me and struggle with the oem clutch then this mod is a must have. 10/10.

Good idea using zip ties. I was able to use channel locks to get into place..
