We just recently returned from Charlotte, where we enjoyed the Mustang Unleashed experience. We chose the Mustang Immersion from the three choices. Over the years I had taken a few performance classes - Barber, Fellows, Petty - So, the Immersion experience was the best choice for my 65 year old wife. It included a street drive, heritage drive, emergency accident avoidance and Auto cross sessions in both Ecoboosts and GT's. I especially enjoyed the heritage drive (once in a lifetime), and as the oldest driver in the class, I finished 4th out of 39 drivers in the timed auto cross event. (my wife went "off course" - no time)
The folks at Wheelhouse do an extraordinary job of making your experience memorable - my wife, who drives a Lexus and has never been a "car" person, was slightly overwhelmed by it all. (she continues to throw out "racing" jargon at me - oversteer, contact patch, turn apex, understeer, etc - Ugh! LOL) If you bought a new Mustang and didn't take advantage of the Unleashed offer, you missed an opportunity to have a little performance "fun" at Ford's expense.....
Our trip was 1635 miles spread over 6 days - from S. Indiana, to Charlotte, Birmingham, and home. Only 322 miles of our "road trip" were driven on interstate highways. Driving was concentrated on "backroads" and about 350 miles a day at speeds that were "leisurely".
Anyway, it confirmed for me that our choice of an Ecoboost convertible, was the best compromise of style, ride comfort and performance. We got an average of 32 mpg (hand calculated) for the trip.
This was a "shakedown" cruise for the trip we have planned in June to Glacier Nat. park - Boise, Bonniville salt flats, Bryce/Zion, Denver ...... After this trip, we're pretty sure that the convertible Mustang was the right choice for our "enjoy the journey" as well as the destination travels.
