Just installed Conti Extreme Contact DWS06 Plus tires on SALLY.

The tires have an Inside and Outside mounting requirement..

what would happen if one mounted all four the opposite direction?

NO, I didn’t do that by mistake or on purpose to answer in advance.

Had a set of those on the Focus RS I traded in on my GT. Great AS tires; in addition to Lou's accurate observation about wet weather performance.......................in your neck 'o the woods; that would also affect snow/slush performance as well.

So do you have a specific reason you want to run tires in the opposite direction from what they are designed for? Put simply, they perform better when installed as designed.

And being upside down it’s difficult to keep the water in the bowl. Tyres will perform correctly as designed.…………..if you only drive in reverse.

Gravity.
Our cars are like Italian tanks, one forward and 5 reverse gears.

They wouldn't work as they were designed. Track weird or something similar like bad handling characteristics. Probably stuff like that. Other than that not much I dont think.

Along with other reasons given, I've always felt it could be detrimental to the integrity of the tire itself. The exterior tread and internal cords are laid out in a certain way, with the idea the tire will roll (with associated forces) in one direction.

I've seen people do it though. There's a Subaru here, the front tires are on the correct way, the rears are backwards. I left a note on their car previously. Maybe they have a steep incline to back into, IDK. Irritating. Almost want to fix it myself. :bandit:
