Not gonna lie… I used to think I’d remember all my maintenance on my Mustang.

I didn’t 😂

Oil changes, tire rotations, random fixes, mods… it all just turns into “uhhh I think I did that a few months ago?”

I’ve been using a maintenance log book for my S550 and it’s honestly one of the most underrated things I’ve bought for the car.

So when I saw there’s one made specifically for the S650 / 7th gen Mustangs, figured I’d share it for anyone with a newer build:

It’s simple, but that’s the point:
✔ Track maintenance properly
✔ Keep a clean history of mods
✔ Makes resale way easier later
✔ Keeps you from guessing (which we all do…)

If you’re actually planning to keep your car long term or build it out, this is one of those small things that pays off big later.

Does it include a way of storing the receipts for the work completed or parts purchased?

Interesting, how is it different from the manual and supplemental guide? Amazon isn't showing any sample pages :(

It has multiple sections, it is a hard cover or softcover. It does not have a place for holding reciepts. There is a service record section, a visual id section, a maintenance schedule section, a modification section, a track day section a fuel log, and an cost tracker section. I will get some pics to post from my s550 book when I get home.

I keep (and have used one for decades) an - At a Glance - Auto Minder record book in all of my vehicles (yeah, a little obsessive/compulsive). I record EVERY cent spent on the vehicle ..... All fuel purchases - keeping the "last" fuel receipt in the unlikely event of a fuel issue traceable back to the filling station, oil and filter changes, tire rotations, maintenance and repairs etc. Registration and insurance info is kept in a little pocket in the back of the Minder. I keep ALL other paperwork / receipts in a manilla folder in my house. Since I ALWAYS sell outright (or give to my kids) the vehicles I am replacing ( I have only traded in ONE vehicle in the last 4 decades), a COMPLETE record of the vehicle ownership, from the purchase date, has ALWAYS given me a better return than ANY trade allowance I have EVER been quoted. If you can find (and it sometimes takes a little time and effort) a discriminating, knowledgeable and educated buyer, they will always pay a premium for a well maintained and documented vehicle, and it starts with the record book. I ALWAYS special order (for the past 4 decades), I never buy from the lot, I start the process of selling the vehicle I am replacing the day I place the order for the new vehicle. I have only a few instances (over 40 years) where the new vehicle arrives before the old one is sold.

(These are from my 2024 F-250)

As an engineer, I keep a spreadsheet for each car. :)

@mach1mike,
Great recommendation! I keep a spreadsheet also of all service performed, right down to air filters and windshield wiper blades, but not where I buy gas. 😄

Date Service Mileage

It's absolutely worth it even if all I'm doing is checking fluid levels, inspecting hoses, belts and getting underneath the car to look at bushings, suspension, tires, etc. You'd be surprised what you can catch and see doing this periodically.

I just traded my STI in and got top dollar for it because of my spreadsheet. Very helpful.

I've done this in the past but not recently. I do keep all receipts in a file, though.

I use a combination of spreadsheet and Moleskine hardback notebook (with stickers!).

When commenting in the notebook, different colored pens represent different activities:

- Blue. Body/detailing
- Black. Maintenance
- Red. Failure/repair/recall
- Purple. Checks (fluids/tires)

The notebook, receipts, extra fob, manuals, other documents., are kept in a Bigso box.
